One person could announce that they want to buy something here at x amount of dollars and we could all go and bid on it, then let him win- netting apolyton a fair amount of money

You just have to make a bid. Apolyton gets profit from eBay for registrations (5 or 10$) (Ebay ones, of course), and if you make a bid.

Don't think that you can go and make 50 registrations at Ebay, they need your credit card.

It would be nice thing for DL protection at Apolyton: require credit cards, so that to make a DL you'd have to own several credit cards .

It would also drive away 90% of our user base. Since they'll figure that if you need a credit card number, you need to pay for Apolyton. Not to mention taht many of us don't have credit cards because our income revolves arround allowance, odd jobs and petty theft (LD just joking)

Yeah. Requiring a credit card for Apton would suck... I like my DL, but I don't really use it for fear of being banned.

Actually, they don't need your credit card but your account actually needs to be active before Apolyton gets $10 (or whatever).

After that, if I understood correctly, Apolyton gets money everytime you bid and also everytime you actually buy something (I'm guessing Apolyton gets more money when you actually buy something).

That would just mean that us old folks (ie. people who've joined the working world) could DL to our hearts content - a quick check of my wallet reveals a Diners, an American Express, a Mastercard and three Visas. Woohoo, 6 DLs here I come!
