Forums: ULTRA SPECIAL Styles Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

After the recent discussion, the "Ultra Special" styles are now availiable.

These styles offer changes in the banners:
- Normal banners from top and bottom of forum pages removed
- 1 (One ) pop-up banner every 6 (six) hours

You can test them out with the following links

on the front forum page, 3.5s for loading it with the light special is now 2.5s on the light ultra special

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Gave it a try, switched to Default-US-MOO3. Looks better, but it's a tad disorienting at first... I'm not used to having the "Control Panel" screen on one page

Markos, will this cost you money in the end? Because since I am only on but twice a day this is the same number of popups before but without the banner ads?

Or are you getting paid for clickthroughs on banner ads?

Is there any way to have a lite mode that shows who was the last to post in a thread while still maintiaing its speed (and by disabling the thread ratings,avatars,etc)?

Just wondering-

the new thing proves much faster by 10 seconds!

tniem- he's paid more for the popups- he only gets paid for banner clikthrus- he gets paid every time a popup appears

so in this way- he benefits more if someone isn't planning on buying anything

normal banners ads dont pay on clickthroughs but on sales "created" by them

so if you werent making any sales via those banners, you werent making us any profit at all

and if someone wanted to follow a banner to make a sale and refer it to us, i've added some text links at the bottom of the pages(ultra styles only)

Lynx never showed the banners, either, (and has no support for pop-ups) but if there's a speed increase I might just try the ultra-special style ...

Hmm. Light ultra-special (how much more special can you go?) does look fine on Lynx, save one thing: I see no forums and no threads inside forums (I came here through the new post listing). Hmwell. Looks like I'll have to read the FAQ or twiddle with the configurations...
