Hi Hazie,
You're right, this poll is a far more accurate way of guaging the opinion of the Apolyton Public! I admit that I really just threw my poll together at the spur of the moment, largely because I remembered a lot of people complaining how foreign borders swallow up colonies! If nothing else, I do believe that forts should have some sort of "Border" of between 1-2 squares radius, one which cannot be swallowed up by culture!! Whoever occupies the fort gets the border, so this would make the garrisoning of a fort VITAL!! It also would give a slight military edge to the border concept! (Perhaps their could even be a diplomatic option where a Civ can demand the dismantling of all colonies, forts etc outside of your cultural border!?)
Oh, and Zulu, Outposts are a new terrain improvement which will be introduced in PtW, apparently you can build them away from your main empire and they will have 2 effects: 1) they Dispel the "Fog of War" and 2) They prevent the spawning of barbarians in the outposts area of effect! Hope that helps.
Yours,
The_Aussie_Lurker.

Hey Gangerolf, I think that's why so few people chose that option, instead going for fixed borders!! If they were to have growing borders, then the improvements would need to have some sort of "cultural value", or else grow by a certain number of squares every X-turns!! Neither of these options seem particularly viable, however!!
