Background colors Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

When I logged to the forum on last night, the background was green. Like the front page. I thought it looked cool. Now, it's gray. I liked the green.

you can have that style permanently
see the options page in the control panel. under "style", choose anything with "civ3" in it...

My starting page is, and has allways been, gray. Never green. So I don't know what are you talking about...

Oh, do you mean the Civ3-starting page? Then you should try Civ3 setting on your forum display...

So that was what you were blathering about last night.

The civ3 scheme is more of a dark blue-green on my screen.

Personally, I find that the colors on any style but the default grey are too bright and clash too much. If they were tweaked and redesigned so they were easier on the eyes I would probably consider using them.

For example, I would definitely consider using the civ3 style if it looked like this - what gets me is the gold table borders criss-crossing everything, I think it would look better as a grey, and if the gold background was a little more subdued:
