Freeciv is much better than civ1/2 when it comes to multiplayer and playing speed, something you don't notice easily when playing solo. We still have a lot to go when it comes to making solo play more interesting, though.

How nice of him to say that your column was 'quite' well-written ...
He also seems to think that you 'didn't get' his videotape analogy ... instead of just finding it insulting

This article of his in even stranger than the last one. He starts off talking about some woman he fancies who is apparently in Buffy the Vampire Slayer .... she has something to do with people cheating on Battle.net, as do the medical industry. Whatever...

His column used to be interesting, y'know? ...

We already contacted each other by email, we actually agree about the point of originality. So no hard feelings.

But this column does kind of remind me of James Burke's "Connections" -series. Where you begin with pieces of eight, make a stop at the founding of the smithsonian institute and end with the invention of waxpaper. There's a red line somewhere but you have to watch it a few times to find it.


I think Garwulfs point was that while we have freedom of speech that doesn't mean you can slander people indiscriminately. Interesting point, but why do you need to drag in MP cheating then? That Blizzard blocked of a couple of players from battlenet for cheating is an entirely different point

I think the problem is that because he has to write for a Diablo2 fan-site he has to make everything relevant to the world of Diablo 2. It appears he is completely bored of the game now and has to try and cram whatever soap-box issue he's currently interested in into a Diablo setting.

The issue about people cheating on battle.net is kind of similar to people who abuse the rules here at Apolyton. They nearly always scream: "What about my freedom of speech!" and Markos usually replies: "This is a private forum, not a public one, the rules here are ours, if you don't like them you are free to leave".
Similarly, battle.net is Blizzard's property - it's their game, it's their rules. However, because people pay good money for the game they feel they own a little piece of the company, which is understandable attitude IMHO, although not legally correct. The issue of paying money doesn't arise on Apolyton, of course (thank you!)
