6 New Civs, but Which? Get a bigger avatar today!

I don't have time to read the whole board, but if Firaxis is still taking suggestions, here are my 6 TPW civs:

Israel/Hebrews: Great impact on world history. Who gave us Monotheism? [answer: them!]

Korea: Huge gaming market. Unparallelled impact on world history. Maybe their special unit could be some kind of Korean fighter or infantry, since China and Japan both have horse units.

Muslims: They took all of Northern africa and much of central asia. Big world power. special unit: whatever the opposite of a crusader is.

Austria: cultural powerhouse all throughout post-renessaince Europe. Big military too, and with Hungary, a great choice.

Souix: A civ from civ 2, another american civ. A great recognizable leader.

Poland: A great choice for European scenarios, good counterpoint to Austria, Russia and Germany in Real map scenarios.

What are your six?

Put an end to popups!

First off, Firaxis has allready chosen their 8 civs, the ones that have been 'officialy' announced are; Spanish, Monguls, Vikings, Celts, Ottomans, & Carthage.

As for your civs;
Isreal/Hebrew - Might be the 8th, but unlikely do to 'polital' issues, & the fact that they're so d@mn small.

Korea - Also a good canidate for the 8th civ, & proboly the most likely, but it's TBS market isn't anything special, & we still don't have official conformation. (Oh yah, Japan's Samurai aren't horse units, that's why they don't require horses to build)

Muslims - A little too broad, it's like having a Christian civilization.

Austria - Counts as a part of the German civilization, since the culture's almost identical & they both have the same exact language.

Souix - Counts as part of the Iroquois, since the Iroquois count for all the North American "Indian" tribes.

Poland - An okay choice, although unlikly do to the fact that they haven't had much of an effect on world history, & the average gamer knows next to nothing about them exept that all the supermodels come from there. ('Pole'land. )

I don't understand why they would just include 7 civs. Sort of a strange thing to have 21 total civs. Maybe for the next one they'll do 9? This makes no sense.

And the ottomans? Carthage? What the hell are these? Do people in Carthage even own PCs?

My mistake on the civ number.

As for the second comment, just as many people in The Ottoman Empire (Turky) & Carthage (Northern Africa) have computers as people in Japan, Persia, (Iran) & Babylon (Iraq) combined.

Until I see a screenshot with either a Korean city or 'Korean _____' in the bottom right, or Firaxis says that they;re in, I'm not going to say that they're in.

8 is more like it. But I thin that they should add a South American civ like Cuba or Madagascar. Something modern who could have Simone Bolivar or Che' or something.

Cuba's in the Carribian, & Madagascar's an island of the coast of AFRICA!!!

If there's going to be a S. American civ, it's going to be the Incas.

Cuba is North American and Madagascar is African, but I do wish the 8th civ is the Incans or at least the Mayans.

I just remember Bolivar from Colonizing. You guys remember that game. He was cool, and he would definitely be a good leader. How about a Mexico/Bolivar civ?

They already have the Aztecs, just imagine a world map, Aztec's and Mexico's starting locations would be the same place!

But if Korea and Japan are in then they'll be as close as any two civs. Or what about Babylon and Persia and Ottoman and Egypt. They're all close. I still want Bolivia and mexico.

Japan & Korea, Babylon & Persia, & Ottoman & Egypt are a good distance apart. Mexico's capital (Mexico city) was built over the ruins of the Aztecs capital.

I'm just saying that if Mongolia is in, then there's not a lot of room between china mongolia and japan for korea to fit in. But korea would be too bad to leave out. at least as important as poland.

I would look for the Hebrews, and possibly the Poles in the next XP. That is if neither of them make it in PTW.

- fortunatly japan is on an island and corea on the continent --> no problem
- egypt is in nothern africa and can spread a long the mediterranian coast.
- ottomans probably will start in constantinople/istanbul and can spread over easter europe if babs are in... i'm more worried about the greeks... they really are right next door.
- babs will be quite squashed down there. maybe they need to develop to the north (between black and caspian see)?

what freaks me out is the fact, that europe's getting even fuller.
- vikings in scandinavia --> ok
- spanish on the iberian peninsula --> ok, except that the france are getting squashed in
- but the celts??? how do you want to put another civ on the british isles? the current world maps already needed to exadurate GB to make england have a chance (same for japan), now 2 civs?

btw: mongolia and china are gigantic realms. i'm not worried by them. and beijing is right on south east... the far end of the mongolian border

The only officially announced are the Spanish and the Mongols as being in. The hwacha (a Korean arty. piece), King Hannibal, Berserk warrior, King Brennus, and a few other things that indicate civs have been mentioned, but to date, only the Spanish and Mongols have been declared in by Firaxis. They will update more as time goes by.

That's one way to look at it.
Praha... Since end of Middle Ages until XIX century, Polish influence in political -and not only- history was bigger
than German and Russian - as You don't count Austria into Germany, do You. They were Swiss of origin anyway.

To automatically equate the Celts with the British Isles, while understandable, is fairly uninformed.

From http://www.wsu.edu:8080/%7Edee/MA/CELTS.HTM
quote:

The earliest Celts who were major players in the classical world were the Gauls, who controlled an area extending from France to Switzerland. It was the Gauls who sacked Rome and later invaded Greece; it was also the Gauls that migrated to Asia Minor to found their own, independent culture there, that of the Galatians. Through invasion and migration, they spread into Spain and later crossed the Alps into Italy and permanently settled the area south of the Alps which the Romans then named, Cisalpine Gaul.

This is just one of many pages to be found from searching google.com for "celtic origin".

The Celts were European powerhouses, not merely "another" people to crowd the British Isles.

So when we all create a world map, will we put the starting location Celts on Ireland or will we put them between France and Germany?
