And it is one of the only things we have to critique currently. There were so many Civ III graphic threads and that didn't change my end opinion of the game.

But for many this is not the case. Many people will not buy a game if it doesn't look good. And no matter how the game play for a game like Clash of Civilizations ends up (and currently I am finding it fun) it is not worth my money if it looks like it does now or like a Civ II clone. Games have to evolve graphically to find a market.
