I can not take my turn. I have two games waiting in my Inbox. Here is the problem. I go to load the saved game (same as every day) and the computer freezes with a black screen during the loading process OR it Civ shuts down during the loading and says some kind of error about not having upba5904.tga
and many other files with similar names. It then scrambles my screen and I am forced to restart. i have re-installed two times now. Restarted the computer countless times and I have several hundred free MB left on the drive. I have never had this problem before and I've been playing Civ since it was released. I also have not changed any settings or added anything since my last turn, except I changed modems. I have even tried to load a game from one or two turns ago. I have the 1.2 English patch installed and no mods or dutchee scenario.

Please help. and for until i can fix it, make me an AI please. I will e-mail the proper people about that.

PROBLEM SOLVED. NO AI PLEASE.

I took my turn and passed it on.

Turned out I installed a map for a different game last night (Myth 2) and used up some memory on one of my drives. Anyway, I had a wrong virtual memory setting.

Hi everbody.

I live in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Just outside of toronto. I'm 35 years old and self-employed. My interest's and hobbies are computers, strategy games, reading, cross- country skiing, mountain biking and classical guitar. I've havent been playing civ2 and ctp for that long, so I'm no expert at them. I'm learning as I go. And the more I play the more I enjoy these games, especially ctp. I don't play against the ai very much and would rather play with people instead.

I have tried to play smac and didn't really like it, no really good reason. Just didn't like it. Im not a big sci-fi fan.

DON> Yeah I'd rather play any game against humans too. However I believe that if a game wants to enhance the single player element then they have got to make believable AI characters. Now SMAC probably isn't that revolutionary in terms of diplomacy it is a step in the right direction.

I think another problem with SMAC is that it could be too complex for a lot of people. Put that together with an advance chart that is not too intuitive and that would drive many people away easily. I've only played the SMAC Alien Crossfire demo so from what I've seen the game is pretty good... but I'd like to get more opinions before I put my money down.

Frazer> LOL! I was planning on keeping the Queen but to be honest I don't really care. How does the rest of UK feel about the royal family?

BTW how do you keep fit, drink beer and play computer games at the same time?

I do work at home, but it isn't my employment. At home it is called chores , and gaming has been known to interfere on occassion.
