I dont mind when somebody posts and tells the group why he cant play his turn right away. At least you know whats going on.
Its the lack of communication that I hate. If you have a problem. Tell the group and maybe we can come up with a solution.
(attaching the ai for a turn or more is not that big of a deal is it?)
I hate when a turn sits for a very very long time and you are wondering if the person has abandoned the game.
Im lucky, if I have a computer or a email/IP problem. I can post here from another computer. Maybe these people dont have that option.

I like the idea of playing with the accelerated start scenario.
But it's not necessarily going to solve the problems with those two games.

I'm not so fond of the idea of an accelerated start scenario. I think I'd rather be able to start a game as a TCP/IP multiplay, and then switch it over to a PBEM after the first 4000 years or so are over.

That would be cool Chris!!
But I thought I read somewhere in these forums that you couldn't do that with CTP.
Do you think people arent getting the game at convenient times?.

Or is it so boring at the beginning that people just forget about it.

Gang - Don has brought up a good point(in an e-mail to me). Hang on to the saved game that u have been sent from previous player for 1 turn. If the player that u send to has not responded within 24 hrs, replay your turn and attach an ai to the player for one turn or until we have heard from them. U would then just e-mail the game to the next player in line.
Is everyone ok with this? Also, is 24 hrs to long to wait? Maybe 12 would be better.

I'm afraid to imagine what the AI would do if given control of a carefully planned player civilization. But it is only fair to the other players to keep the game moving, and this sounds like the most workable solution. I'll vote in favor of it.
P.S. Where can I find some good instructions and examples of how the command line switches work, especially the ones for attaching and severing an AI?

Ed sent me turn 4 this morning at 7:30 AM. I'll play it when I get home from work and pass it along.
Twelve hours may be too little time. If someone sent me the game at 4:00 AM, I really wouldn't be able to come home from work just to play a turn. If it is super-important, I can try to check for a turn in the morning before work, but I'm not much of a morning person.

Swissy: I'd be up for giving that a try. BTW, let's say midnight EST, just so there is no confusion about timezones.
