Units from the Anglo-Egyptian Army stormed and seized the Dervish redoubts outside Dongola in preparation of the campaign of the reconquest of the Sudan.

Britain has also demanded that the Ottoman Empire cease in their remilitarization of the Suez Canal and has added that Ottoman blockading of this vital artery to European trade is frowned upon with extreme displeasure and has demanded that the Suez Canal be reopened.

Britain also awaits a response from the Ottoman Empire. We wish to discuss a possible negotiation to demilitarise the Canal Zone to avoid further conflict.

Che, everyone's email, please can you post it so that we can internegotiate better? My PMs haven't worked properly for too long so I've disabled them.

Martin Rhodes Declares "Cape to Cairo" Route Area of British Interest

Cape Town.- In a proclamation to the world and ratified by telegraph by the House of Commons and the Foreign Office, Martin Rhodes, a well known colonialist from the Cape, has proclaimed that the route plotted for the Cape to Cairo railroad will be an area of British Interest and that any foreign encroaching upon this area will be deemed with great displeasure.

The Cape to Cairo railroad is a dream of not few entrepreneurs, merchants and adventurers and it is a dream that Britain is invariably compelled and destined to fulfil for the Greater Glory of Europe. With the railroad connecting Africa, commerce will be sped immediatelly and the light of civilisation will be able to light even the darkest corners of the African wilderness to bring joy and happiness to all men.

The route plotted has been declared to pass through the following native villages:

Dongola, Berber, Khartum, El Obeid, Sennaar, Fashoda, Gondokoro, Kampala, Bukavu, Kassango, Jadotville, Ndola, Lusaka, Bulawayo.

We will see, Britisher, we will see....

academia, no threat is implied, I mean we should talk about an acceptable border, and distrabution of towns, ect.
I have no intention of attacking the fine Portuguese people, but Madagascar was taken by our Legion and Chasseurs de afrique, and we are sensitive to the public opinion of France!
In fact, France might be interested in an Alliance.

Also, we support the Ottomans, and remind the English that they cannot engage a power for 7 more turns, and that blocking the Red Sea would be considered VERY unfriendly by the French government!

Viva La France!

Britain has also realised that a blunder on behalf of our Sirdar has caused Royal Navy cruisers to block the Red Sea (honestly, a mistake I didn't realise before).

We apologise to the governments of Europe for our blunder.

British Forces are swarming around Suez. Baghdad demands Britain not to occupy the Canal. This must be signed in an international declaration, here in the forum. Our ships will open the Canal when Sir Rhodes promises officially to keep out the Canal.

Sultan Alfdul Hamid announces that the Ottoman Canal of Suez will keep opened to all countries. Each nation will have to pay a tiny tax for crossing the Canal. Every turn a nation wants to move units through the Canal, it will have to pay to the Ottomans 30 gold. The payment will be charged until an amount can be donated to the Ottoman AI (i.e.: 150 gold). Also, we could try it with Yaros' utility, it would be a great chance to test it on a real game

Allah is big.

The Ottoman demands for payment are inexcusable. The Ottoman government does not own the canal, which is held by European investors overall. Britain refuses to pay any blackmail to use its own canal, and a canal of Europe. The owners have signed a declaration declaring it neutral and the British government will be forced to coerce the governments of Europe into action should the Ottoman Empire not reopen the canal.

Oops, I didn't realise it was my turn.

Britain decries the continued intransigence of the Ottoman Empire. Their hostile, belligerent, illegal blockading of the Suez Canal is causing severe disruptions to British trade. Lest the Ottomans reopen the Canal the Anglo Egyptian Army in junction with the Royal Navy will be force to mobilise against the Ottoman Forces in the Canal. Additionally, Ottoman troops landing in Upper Egypt is an open act of hostility. Britain demands the withdrawal of these troops.

NOTE: If I can't attack people in the first ten turns, I'd like it for people NOT to attack me in those ten turns as well...

Edict of Suez Proclaimed in Parliament

London.- Pushed through Parliament in view of Ottoman intransigence, Prime Minister Salisbury proclaimed today that the Suez Canal would be maintained and opened by Britain to all nations of the world. He declared the Canal neutral and has added that the British Empire guarantees the safe passage of all non-belligerent and merchant shipping through the canal. In an addendum, the canal has been deemed as a protected British interest and as such Britain has proclaimed that it shall be reopened in case of blockade even if dire consequences should follow.

Diplomatic dispatches:

The Turkish claims of British forces swarming the canal are vile lies. The Royal Navy has been sortied to reopen the canal (by force if necessary) and additional defensive troops have been sortied to enhance the defence of the canal area.
