Cheating - A moral dilemma Tired of ads?

I need some advise...

I have been playinga game where there were a lot of problems in the beginning and being able to cheat was brought up. I know someone is cheat in my game but I only know becuase I was checking peoples turn to see if they had cheated. I know I did wrong myself so how can I criticize some one else? But I know the other person cheats by instantly bying what he wants all the time so his is worse becuase I was going to stop when I knew noone was cheating.

what do I do - I feel terrible becuase it is like there is not point playing multiplayer becuase you can only find out some one is cheating by doing it youself. But everybody else is loosing to!

Moral Dilema

BTW I know how we can stop cheating - we get one independant player to be a random checker then people would be to scared to cheat

Put an end to popups!

I think that having an independant person randomly checking two concetive turns is a good idea to find cheaters.
I personal don't care if someone cheats against me and wins. Since its just a game.
But I can understand why you would care. I think that maybe we PBEM players should start a guild (sorry for being so damn tready).
In this guild everyone signs in saying they will not cheat. Then in each PBEM at random intrevals some one checks turns. This can be done by the simply passing your turn to the independant person. Then on your next turn pass it again. The independant person should be able to find if they cheated. Remember that in CTP doesn't not always give the correst due times espeacialy for sceince.
I don't think there is a way anyone can stop people from replaying turns.
If someone is caught cheating they will be kicked out and a replacement found. I beleive that this would elimate most cheating if there is any which I honest don't think there is.

In your case Grand Junction Road I would create an extra email address and email the cheater and tell him/her (I can't be sexist now can I) to stop it. Then if you still beleive that he/she is cheating then have a independant person check the turns.

This is just an idea. Open to any suggestions or critisism.

I like to think that the vast majority of players here are honest enough not to cheat. I understand that for some reason some people cheat what I don't quite understand is why?

I mean think about it. If you have to cheat to win why even play in the first place?? I don't play simply to beat everybody else, I play to have fun and cheating just takes all of that away.

Cheating=No suspense=No fun

Seems like a reasonably straightforward equation to me but some people simply don't seem to get it. Or is it me that's clueless?

Sounds like a good idea Shavlor...

The flipside to there being no point in cheating is that there is also no point in playing a game when someone is cheating...

The fact is that there will always be some people who will cheat (either to avoid looking foolish or because they know they wouldn't stand any other chance...). You only have to look around in sports (which IS regulated) to see some people have to win at any costs. Ben Johnson, East Germany (half their female athletes were more masculine than the average Gridiron player!

Count me in - maybe we can set it up on your World PBEM (Any idea where the turn is???) as a pilot scheme? What do you reckon?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I have got a cheat checker in World scenario.
He will simply play two random turns in a row of everyone. If he finds anything odd he will report it and it will be closely investagated. If anyone is caught cheating then they will be immedately expelled and a replacement found.
