If he's talking about using html to give text an aura around them (see the online indicators at my forum, then either they'd have to enable html (which could lead to a lot of nasty side effects) or work out some sort of vBcode in some way. Either way I'd imagine it would quickly become overused and annoying.

Any site that uses this will go on my blacklist, together with sites that use embedded music and tags like "blink" or "marquee"...
