Dinosaurs in Play The World? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

There is a screenshot at Gamespot where a Dinosaur is depicted.Having in mind that the game begins at 4000Bc, at a time when these prehistorical reptiles had ceased to exist how exactly are they going to be implemented in the game?

Will there be a prehistorical scenario?Or will they be making their appearance in the normal game as well?
If so how?

From what I've heard, it's just a unit set, so if you want to make a prehistoric scenario (or you want dinos in your normal game), you can use those...

Yes. (I assume Firaxis will make one, but there will be plenty available soon after release anyway)

Or you could unlock dino units after building the Jurassic Park wonder (which comes with the new Gene-Splicing advance in the Modern Era).

it's quiet clear that Firaxis used the bible to base civilization on, I mean, it's not a co-incident that history starts 4000 BC, is it?

Well, according to the bible, dinosaurs actually were around 4000 BC, thus there's nothing wrong with that.

you just focus too much on evolution, which is only one of the possibilities (I wonder if provost or one of those guys actually hang around here )

Talking about Romans, I hope Firaxis will add a lot of new Ancient Times units to help someone to create an Ancient World Scenario.

oh sure, no kidding.
they don't call it 'dino' though. (we should have told Moses that we would name them like that in the future )

but there's talking about the big dragon, and some more of that.

most people think they extincted after the great flood, because of the climate change. Pherhaps a cool feature in civ as well: "Your entire civilization has been destroyed by this great flood. 8 of you guys have escaped though!!"

yay

quote:

1: And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2: And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3: And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4: And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5: And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6: And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7: And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

You know in Civ 2 they had scenarios with dinosaurs, teddy bears, Santa Claus, and even bacterium.

Nobody claimed they were historical, but they were fun.

I didn't find (or look for) any scenraios with any of this, but I remember I downloaded the Dino game, where every tech was changed to dino tech, every unit was changed to be some sort of dino, even the wonders and city improvements had something to do with dinos...it was really cool

Meier said something in his interview about civs starting with cavemen and then perhaps having to fight off early attacks by dinos. Not exactly the type of game I was imagining, but interesting nonetheless.

Whoa! The Bible never gives a date for the creation of the world. It has been given one by Christians adding up the ages of listed people, but the Bible NEVER SAYS that the world is exactly 6002 years old.

Also, the Bible never says dinosaurs were around 6002 years ago.

BTW I am a Christian.

The bible says the world is like 5700+ years old. The Hebrew is from where the christians come, they wrote the first part of the bible (but there seem to be some differences with the christian version), the hebrew calendar says its the year 57xx (I think). The Hebrew calendar is based on the moon instead of the sun so the months are shorter, but months are added in some year to make the year match with the seasons, so 5000 years in their calendar translates to 5000 years in ours.

Edit: Yesterday was the New Year for the Hebrew calendar, happy New Year people.

Is someone suggesting that Firaxis is basing their game on creationism?
Or then again maybe you research 'techs' for the dinosaurs and it's an evolutionary game
