Specialists, acadamies, bazaars in Democracy Get a bigger avatar today!

Has anyone noticed this before?

When you make the switch to democracy, have you noticed that some of your cities lose either their bazaars or their acadamies? Those citied then go into the "red" for gold and have zero science. What I had to do was then assign specialist from the population to scientists and merchants. Then I got the bazaar and acadamy buildings back in the possible build items for that city. Weird.....

Did that happen on any particular mod? Sounds weird.

Yes it was with the Apolyton Super Pack mod. I agree it was weird and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I have played three games using the SAP and I have not noticed that problem. I think that I would have noticed the disappearance of my academies and bazaars! I did switch to Democracy (from a Republic) in two of the three games. The other game I was never a Democracy.

I've certainly never experienced this either. Though, come to think of it, I don't believe that I've ever been in democracy in any of my SAP games... Did the cities revolt perhaps? This will destroy some of the city improvements

Ahhh...............

That's what happened. Thanks for helping me figure that one out. Acadamies and bazaars must have been destroyed in the initial revolts I experienced.

Now why did some cities that were once extremely profitable plummet into the -100s for gold generation?

The only reason for this that can I think up right now is if a city is rioting it won't produce anything and riots are also very expensive. Actual I can't belive if just your bazaar is destroyed that you generate so high debts every turn. Ususally if a city is conquered a lot more stuff is destroyed.

Martin you are right. I continued playing my game last night and I saw how income was affected by the rioting. I also noticed that when happiness was restored to 73 my income slightly increased in those troubled cities.

Now another question. Does science and trade income increase as your citizens become more happy?

That is a good question, actual I never tried it, because I used the sliders to sqeese the last thing out of my citiziens. But you could use the cheat editor to test this, take a city of your choice and give it some extra happiness increasing buildings and watch what happens. Of course you have to consider that such buildings cost something per turn.
