I have been thinking If RON will be good as Civ3? From what I've seen of the game, It appears to be a duplicate of Empire Earth. RON looks good and It has new features but I am just wondering If I should get It when comes out. What Is everyones else's opinion?

This is my opnion only, but here it is anyways. Civ 3 is a good game not a great game like Civ2 was ( I know everyones been through it but listen out)
Since Brian Renylods made Civ2 and is making RoN, RoN should be better than Civ3.
He also made Alpha Centurai also a good game, (almost like Civ2)
I believe if he sticks with the Civ2 way of playing, I mean really fun and can play over and over again (Civ3 I don't have that feeling) he can't go wrong.

I think RON will be a good game, if not better than Civ3. There seems to be a deliberate attempt to avoid busy work, like cleaning up pollution. Does anyone think managing pollution is fun? Or how about firing artillery? Actually, I think RON is what Civ3 would have been if Reynolds had stayed at Firaxis. Maybe, that's why he left because he couldn't implement his vision that is RON.

In trying to absorb the available information on RoN, I currently have the impression it will provide a gaming experience different from Civ and EE. BHG looks to be creating a quality game, and I expect to enjoy it. I won’t be surprised, however, if some TBSers and RTSers don’t like it for the reason RoN will be a different kind of experience.
In another context, I tried to address the “RoN vs. EE” issue on a page of my own.

I think that I will enjoy it more than Civ III. But that is only if the balance and the pace of the game works out, which is no guarantee.

Hagbart mentioned "too much clicking" (specifically with regard to EE). For me, one of the greatest "draws" of Civ3 (and conversely, one of the greatest "deterrants" from such titles as EE/AoE/AoC/AoK) is the pace. I hate to admit it, but my old fingers can't keep up with the click-fest that those titles require in order to remain "in the game." By contrast, I can take my time with Civ3, cogitate, drink a latte (or two), et cetera.
I am very interested to see what a turn-based, just-one-more-turn guru like Brian will bring to the RTS arena.

Hasdrubal,
You talking about Sid? What about games like Gettysburg! and SimGolf - his latest two? Both fantastic games. One is one of the best wargames of all time and the other incredibly addictive. Sid still has it in my opinion.
