I see you learned about blind warping the hard way, huh?

That's where a commission comes in. Only commissioned (>1000 align) traders can transwarp to Fedspace beacons.
You get +1 alignment for every 1000 credits you post on evil traders as bounties in the police station. The easiest and cheapest way to get a commission is to post 500k, then apply for the other 500 alignment, and voila, free warps right to Fedspace sectors.

I have some new questions tho. Is it possible to destroy planets without getting navhaz? Because if its not, I would rather have crappy planets than navhaz in my home sector. (better to ask than to risk screwing up) <- learned that when I was experimenting with the warp engine.

1) Destroying planets creates 10% navhaz per planet destroyed.
2) Creating a planet reduces the navhaz in the current sector by 10%.
So feel free to destroy/recreate planets to get good types, just release a gentorp right after using each detonator and you're set.
Also, you're clear to transwarp to any sector with a friendly fighter (or Fedspace if your alignment is 1000 or better). NavHaz won't cause a fuse unless there's no sector "beacon" (fig). Basically, if density scanning a sector comes out non-zero and it doesn't contain a corporate or personal fighter, you'll fuse on transwarp into that sector. To be safe, just always answer no if it asks if you want to blind warp instead of saying beacon locked (though once you're comfortable with the game, an occassional very careful known safe blind warp can save precious turns).

Not directly, only by selling a ship with the shields/figs on it. And the more ports/kills your ship has (on the I screen), the more it's discounted on trade-in (a particularly old ship will glean a message from the ship trader of the sort, "Well, I guess we can give it to the Ferrengi for target practice!"), so never ever sell an old ship with fighters onboard (drop them off next to Stardock first and pick them up later). If you're really strapped for cash and want to sell figs, drop the figs off by stardock, buy a new Battleship (or the cheapest thing you can find that'll hold the # of figs you want to sell), transport into the Bship, go get the figs, go back to SD, transport back into your original ship, and port and sell the Bship... that'll sell the figs off a 0 port 0 kill ship and get you maximum value, but you'll still never get more than 100 credits per fig or so, much less than they're worth, so that'd be a last resort maneuver if you need the cash for something.
