*Snigger, snigger* Sorry, but all American opinions on beer are null and void owing to their reputation for having the world's worst beers |
If you read any beer conosuers magazine then you will find that America is the worlds best place to drink beer. It doesn't matter what style or what flavor of beer you wish to drink because immigraints have brought it here and you will find it here. Locally brewed from locally grown produce. Czech Pilsners, English Nutbrowns, Scottish Brandy Wines, Irish Milk Stouts, French Bier de Guards, Austrian Wheats, German Outmeal brews and Heavy wheats. They are all here along with any other you can think of. No other country can brag of finding so many styles made locally by micro brews and sold fresh. The U.S. even has far more brewers then Germany so it doesn't matter which type of beer you like there is an American company making it from locally grown produce.
You won't find that in any European country, nor Australia, nor in Latin America, nor any where else. American brewing companies gather more gold metals at international bear festivals year after year then any other country so the idea that American beer sucks is just plain ignorant.

The problem is that the US is a breadth over depth approach. They have many good beers, but no great beers.

I dont think you can have a beer be more than about 8.5% alcohol and still have it taste good. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is 8.5% and one of my favorites, but any stronger and it wouldnt taste good.
