We make more lousy beer, it's true, but we have a fantastic microbrew scene. And frankly, your 25 million people just can't compete with 280 million of us.

I've heard Sapporo is pretty good.

That, and isn't the 2nd or third largest brewer in the world based out of South Africa?

We could argue all day about the respective virtues of our micro-breweries, but when it comes to beer drinking, Aussies beat Yanks hands down! Actually, for i moment i vaguely remembered an American outdrinking me once, but i realised that he was actually Canadian I can't say the same for other Americans i have met

Fosters is the only Australian beer which is brewed in France (in licence). Visited the brewery in Champineulles a month ago.

If you read any beer conosuers magazine then you will find that America is the worlds best place to drink beer. It doesn't matter what style or what flavor of beer you wish to drink because immigraints have brought it here and you will find it here. Locally brewed from locally grown produce. Czech Pilsners, English Nutbrowns, Scottish Brandy Wines, Irish Milk Stouts, French Bier de Guards, Austrian Wheats, German Outmeal brews and Heavy wheats. They are all here along with any other you can think of. No other country can brag of finding so many styles made locally by micro brews and sold fresh. The U.S. even has far more brewers then Germany so it doesn't matter which type of beer you like there is an American company making it from locally grown produce.

You won't find that in any European country, nor Australia, nor in Latin America, nor any where else. American brewing companies gather more gold metals at international bear festivals year after year then any other country so the idea that American beer sucks is just plain ignorant.

It doesn't matter Canadians are simply our future Northern States. When NAFTA is taken to it's logical, EU like, conclusion Canada will be part of the Union.

That depends on your defination of good. It's very strong, but when you can taste the alcohol in a beer, then you know the beer doesn't really have much flavor. I didn't like it. I've had a few Aisan beers I I haven't liked any of them. Europe, the USA, and Mexico make the best beers.

The problem is that the US is a breadth over depth approach. They have many good beers, but no great beers.

The line between "good" and "great" is decided by (so called) yuppie connoisuers, not the average beer drinker. The average man just wants a brew that tastes decent and has a bit of bite to it. What more can one ask for?

And the notion that because something is mass produced means its lower quality is silly. It is true in some cases, but is by no means a rule.

That's not true at all. You just have to look. Dusseldörfer, made in Indiana, of all places, is a truely great pilsner. That's just off the top of my head.

Ive had beers from all over the world, and I have never had as many great beers in any other country as I have had here in America. Those who say america has the worst beer in the world probably havent had anything better than Budweiser or Coors.

All those Belgian beers I've tried taste as if there were things in it which don't belong to beer (no, I don't complain about the ethanol ). Try German beer. Over 20 breweries in Cologne (used to be more, but modern economy ... )

I dont think you can have a beer be more than about 8.5% alcohol and still have it taste good. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is 8.5% and one of my favorites, but any stronger and it wouldnt taste good.

It was more the 'frigid' word I noticed... in the meaning 'unresponsive sexually'...never mind it wasnŽt even fun to begin with...
