	Can two players use the same faction? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Are there any bugs if two players or more use the same faction in an smac or smax game?

Is it simply for roleplay reasons, that no one plays identical factions?

Or do people find it confusing trying to figure out which base is theirs and which is their opponents?

Yes

You can load, for example, your alpha.txt with all seven factions as GAIANS, GAIANS, then every player will be Deirdre.

You're right, though. it would be confusing when you call council, 'cos you wouldn't know to whom you were talking.

Better to make a clone faction and use it, as we did for Forum Wars, Pirate Wars and Alien wars (there are clones available for Gaians, Drones, PK's, UoP, Pirates and both alien factions)

When you say clone, do you mean they have the exact same attributes, only different faction colors and art?
