Then again, I guess he had some need to entertain people they way he did, otherwise he would've written a book.
Edit: pheh, it takes more time to edit then post a new message...
This does tell me that one of the things that make Eva the piece of art it is is that it can entertain and evoke thought at the same time... those of us who look for the thought-evoking parts just should try to separate the parts meant for pure entertainment, otherwise we'll go insane and paranoid with all that meaningless stuff.
Or is that the case at all?
I love that anime...

Whoops! I thought you'd see the funny side to that 8 minute monstrosity. I certainly did. But then I heard snatches of it from Apoc so I was prepared to laugh at it.
Yes, it is quite..... sloppy. I guess I should have warned you a bit more. Maybe the reason it doesn't sicken me is because I had previously seen the worst and yuckiest Hentai ever - Sailor Moon and the Seven Ballz. A whole lotta anime charcters going at it for 45 minutes, some of the worst subbing and animation you've ever seen... it has it all. Compared to it "The Human Instrumentality Project" is a family picnic (I guess that thing actually IS a kind of family picnic - Whoops - crossed the line again).
So in short, patricide is a terrible thing; don't kill me Kass. I apologise for unleashing that on you, but you DID know it was a hentai, right? And of NGE, where all the main charcters are involved with each other in strange and often family ways. I can't take the full blame. I just hope you can see the funny side to it as well.
And I do love Asuka. But not in the lusty way. Whenever she says something I find her absolutely hilarious - her thing for Kaji (sp?), love/hate of Shinji, despising Rei, everything! This may change when we get into HER past, but so far she is fantastic. I guess when you're me you have the sense of humour that can laugh at anything, and this is just what I do with hentai.
Oops - it's 3am. I gotta sleep.

Don't worry MWIA, I've had my (un)fair share of hentai... it was quite hilarious at moments, especially in a camp-like manner, but most of the time I just felt a bit sick... too much fluids. I mean, that was an overkill even for hentai. The place was flooded with it, for crying out loud! Gendo did have that perfect vicious smile, and "if you can't do it, then leave" was quite funny.
Like I said, quote: If someone didn't get it yet, my earlier death threat post was humour. |
Besides, this avatar with Ikari-sama has increased my cynicism and calmness levels profoundly. It's quite terrifying.

No offense, guys, but looking thru these last posts firmly enchances any stereotypes about who watches Jap cartoons - and why - I've had. In a major way, too. |
None taken - I've never considered myself a person of the normal kind in any field.
One could think it's an endless loop - only abnormal people are socially 'allowed' to watch anime, thus anime is made for abnormal people.
Oh, and do consider that I've seen only one series, about ten hours. I'm not a fan of the genre, not the way some might be.
And, remember that this is an internet forum. I seriously doubt all anime fans use the internet as much as we do. And we all know what corruptive influence that can have. Or, more likely, what corruptive influence the more sick people using it can have on those who aren't so twisted, at least yet.
So, I'm not going to try to jam my opinion down your throat, but I want to remind you that, like not all Finns are fat drunks, not all anime fans are obsessed with tentacles. Uhm, and I'm a teenaged male. I'm allowed to have a hyperactive libido. My social ineptness forces me to seek comfort from bizarre things.
I myself have the most problems with this anime = hentai connection because it makes most European national television broadcasters to shun away Japanese animation, which however can be very entertaining and, like with Evangelion, even intellectual. Most people say that the ending is just plain stupid, but I've learned to think that it's just that these people use the adjective 'stupid' instead of 'incomprehensible by me'.
Not to mention all the females interested in anime; my school has a huge amount of them compared to males. I really can't speak for their behalf.
That, or this is just a lame troll.

Oh, just the fact that both quotes involve people making similar statements about acts of mass murder.
