Indeed it is. While it can be commended for helping to introduce Anime to the west, ripping it up like that is still unforgiveable.

Anime discussion!

I so love having a new episode of NGE on TV every week here... no need to download them. Instead I have managed all the DBZ that hasn't shown here yet (including some crusty copied of the original with subs), and the first two seasons of Ranma 1/2 - but at 150 MB or so per episode and 12-20 eps per season, this is slow going.

And tentacle films are H I L A R I O U S! Has anyone ever seen the La Blue Girl ones? Or the equally hilarious (but no tentacles) F3 and the Evangelion Hentai - The Human Instrumentality Project? I was laughing so hard I couldn't type properly when I was in the chat and watching it. Apocalypse, Trip and Epistax thought I was insane.

Now I know where I want to go as an exchange student. Seriously, I can only think what it's like to watch it once a week. If I had all the eps I couldn't resist myself. I watched NGE in two doses, 13 episodes each...

And the toastyfrog.com 's Eva parody was hilarious, IIRC you know it (Apoc gave you the link in the chatroom once).

Evangelion Hentai - The Human Instrumentality Project

Oh my god, I might have to get that one... does it spoil the films I wonder?

I've downloaded something called "Asuka the Black Knight", it supposedly has Asuka lip synched with Monty Python and the Holy Grail... haven't watched it yet though.

Ah - I resisted getting the Monty Python one so far... One of the best NGE music vids I have seen was one done as a little tribute to Asuka based on Rammstein's Engel. I strongly suggest you get it. Every time the guy sings (or more like chants), Asuka is lip-synched pretty well, and the women singing in the background tend to be when Shinji's lips are moving! Fantastic!

The NGE Hentai doesn't spoil anything that I know of, and I have only just seen "The Fourth Child" earlier tonight. Incidentally, NGE is on here on Cartoon Network, which is not free-to-air, but is on both of New Zealand's Cable and Satellite TV options. It happens to be the Australian Cartoon Network. Other anime we get: DB, DBZ, Pokemon (all repeats), Zoids, Gundam Wing, and we had the first season of Yu Yu Hakusho, a very excellent series.

"Asuka the Black Knight" is just incredibly funny if you've seen the Monty Python film.
However, MWIA, it has scenes from the episodes 21 to 22, 23 (or somewhere in that area) and I don't think you're that far yet. So I'd recommend checking it out once you've seen episode 23. Definitely not yet.

Feh. From hints I have picked up from Apocalypse, that spoof site (I read to episode 18 or so, despite not having seen that far yet - it was too funny) and the odd clip in music vids (including the Engel one), I know snatches from what is coming up. I'm not fussed as long as I don't think too hard about what I just saw.

Well the spoiling part is just a battle and the fact that the battle takes place in certain spot A. It's not a decisive battle though of any kind... Hmm, it's so insanely funny that you could take the chance and watch it. But don't burn me on the stake if you feel spoiled...

That really is a good one... just wish I understood more of what Rammstein's say... don't speak much German... though some of Rammstein's others are really good too... can't think of them at the moment...

Correct. The headers are from the universal SI system and therefore the logical choice. The mikrocredit can be spelled also as microcredit; the original Greek word is spelled with 'k' so I've started to use that. But it's quite insignificant.

Yeah, well I always love a good lip synch... especially in Finnish. I had a blast as a kid when I would set the VCR so that for instance some soap opera was covered by a talk show's sounds.
Besides, in Finland, and presumably other Nordic countries, we don't get a lot of dubbing, so any sort of dubbing / lip synch is by default amusing.

Anyways, thanks for the tip, I'll look into it...

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

MisterWhereItsAt.

I hate you for making me download that clip. I really do. For a split second I felt that I would enjoy planting a rail gun projectile down your groin, or, even more horrible, spoiling you the end of NGE, which in my book is the ultimate atrocity, overpowering death and torture. And Planet Busters.

That clip was sick. S-I-C-K. Okay, I'm not pure; I did laugh at some of Ikari-sama's lines. And the, uhm, first time Rei showed up... err, anyways. I mean, the clip was pretty white. And I'm not talking about the censored areas here.

MWIA, you are a threat to mankind and all Eva no otakus worldwide, and should be put down, or at least inside a Punishment Sphere - I just decided that it'd be a good idea to build one. Or three.

Disclaimer to any moderators: If you had seen this clip, and Evangelion, you'd understand. If you feel a compelling need to ban me, I gladly accept it. It's worth it. I feel no regret.

Edit: Oh, but the "Engel" one was good. It did have a battle scene from the films - I concluded this since I had never seen that creature before, and because the scenes were in widescreen - but the lip synch was nowhere near "Asuka the Black Knight".

Iie. I believe it was part of the big "F*** YOU!" to the fans in EoE. Anno had a lot of issues with the fanbase for how rabid they'd become, so he put a few things in there that ended up pissing off a lot of people. This was one of them.

Of course, there's a big psychological thing going on with it and it gives you some insight into just how screwed up Shinji is at this point, but still....perhaps he could have driven the point home without doing that.

Interesting...

I wonder if Anno had any influence over some 'artistic' decisions? For instances, the plug suits. I mean, having two fourteen year old girls in those skin tight suits, not to mention Misato's occasional scarce clothing, or the school uniforms, or the very interesting 'camera' angles - they were asking for weirdos to drool over it.

What I'm saying is, was it Anno's original plan to have all that? I doubt my philosophical experience with Evangelion would've suffered if there'd been a bit more clothing. Currently, it'll just make me a bit embarrassed if I watch the series with a girl. "Was this why you like Eva so much?"

Not to mention it gives the series a bad karma in some countries, and amplifies the oh-so typical stereotype that anime = hentai.

And seriously, one has to be pretty screwed up to consider, say, Rei, or Asuka, or any of the women or girls, 'hot'.
If someone didn't get it yet, my earlier death threat post was humour. You may stop shivering now, MWIA. But I still do hate you.
