Turn 89 -> Dave.

A Viking diplomat has reached the Aztec empire. His shoulders are burdened with a heavy weight. What present will he give to the mighty and incredibly rich Aztecs ? (He has heard much of their famous AMEX.)

Turn 89 -> Phil (slamp)

We welcome the Viking diplomat to open an embassy with the Aztecs. As per the request of earlier leadership, imposed on us when we established an embassy with the Vikings, the diplomat can establish an embassy, but will have to return to his ship and leave Aztec waters - other civilizations are eager to have embassies with the Vikings, I am told...

As there is a Viking phalanx on leave in our lands, we consider additional units on sovereign Aztec soil unnecessary - unless the Vikings will also allow Aztec units on their lands as a sign of good faith.

Turn 90 -> Dave

Despite a somewhat unfriendly reception, our diplomat was instructed to leave a gift anyway, before making a hasty retreat.

If this lonely phalanx unit bothered the Aztecs so much, why did they not send it home themselves ?

To the noble Kris,

No offense was meant - to show that I appreciated the gift, I have accepted and given a gold gift to you in return.

I bear no ill will towards the Viking phalanx within my borders, but I am a firm believer in maintaining a balanced and equal presence within respective empires - and as stated before, when the Vikings invite me to drop a military unit within the heart of their empire, this will show that we both can trust each other equally.

I believe this is called prudence...

Turn 91 -> Phil

Tom,

Yesterday, I got a fatal return message on your email account. I have been unsuccessful in getting ahold of you this past week, so I will put your civ on neutral this coming week, or until you contact me.

Please contact me if you are willing to continue - let me know either way so I can get a replacement. Next weekend (Sun-Aug 20) will be the cutoff point.

For the time being, the Dutch are considerend neutral and cannot be attacked.

I, Shavlor leader of the Greeks, hereby resigns from my position. I am doing this mainly because I loaded my last turn and behold my 3 main cities revolted against me and made a new civ. I am on the bottom of the power chart and am way behind in tech. I don't beleive it possible to come close to any of you.
Next time I play CD I will remember not to build so many cities .

PS: If you want I can open my turn and kill my units / cities or whatever. If anyone wants a very hard challenge try playing this position.

Shavlor,
My regrets at your unfortunate losses. I was expecting you to begin rising soon on the power charts.

I think that it is best if you play out a turn or two and take reasonable measures to help the civ while we look for a replacement player who is up for quite a challenge. At a minimum, can you make sure that the cities have something to work on?

Turn 92 -> Phil

The rumors are true. Word has reached the Aztec government of the Romans internal problems. Asplinter group has broken off and formed a new nation, calling themselves Russians.

After consideration, it seems that the leaders favor obtaining a new leader for the Greeks. Knowing the dire situation that they are in, and the difficulty of obtaining a person brave enough to take on the challenge, I am considering turning my civ over to an outside player, which shouldn't be too much of a problem, and taking on the leadership of the Greeks myself. I would rather keep the game moving than have it fall apart. In light of the fact that Dermot has been AWOL this past week too, the game is at a somewhat critical state of operation.

Any suggestions would be helpful too.

ABDICATION SHOCK THE WORLD COMMUNITY!!!

The Aztec leader Hextan has seen the plight of the Greek people. His heart cries out for their suffering. In a shocking twist, he has abdicated his throne in Tenochiclan and has decided to attempt to lead the Greeks to peace and prosperity.

The tranfer of power has been made to Arthur. May he continue the successes of his predecessor.

Turn to Phil.
