I intend to start a new PBEM game which I want to be a fast one. To accomplish that I suggest the following approach and rules:
The game will have 6 players. Two players form a team.
The result of a game will be sent to both players of a team. They will play their turn after each other. If one is not available the other teammember is allowed to play both turns.
If the last player of a team e-mails the result of his turn, he also sents a message to all other players. If no such message arrives within 24 hours the turns of the team will be "nexted" by the team that has sent the turn to them. This rule does not apply in case of special circumstances like holidays etc that are announced in advance.
Other suggested rules are:
- Huge map
- Default Map Setting (Goods, Land vs. Water, etc.)
- King Level
- Restless Tribes setting
- No AI
- Fast start (5 settlers, 10000 gold)
All rules open to suggestion.
I have my team complete (me and my son). Do you dare to challenge us? If so, post here and/or sent your e-mail to fransm@europe.com. Define your preferences (Civilization, alias, should the game be rated?) and e-mail address. My team prefers to play Greek (alias Damon Atreides) and Egypt (alias Franses).
I do not have a scenario for a fast start. If you have one I would appreciate your reaction.
Looking forward to your reaction,

Hi Frances, I would like to play, but am in too many games already, and neglecting other parts of my life to the point of distraction.
But I would still like to offer some constructive criticism. I started a "team" PBEM myself a while back, and had to think about all the pros and cons as well. One argument was that the problem with having the team mates take their turns directly after one another, is that they can have a double attack on an enemy, before the enemy even has a chance to retaliate/reinforce etc.
In practice this will almost never happen I suppose, but it is quite devestating if it does.

Stavros,
Thank you for your remark. A pity you do not take part in the game. But I understand that you can not play them all.
I see your point and had been thinking about this possibility also. My conclusion was that, apart from it being unlikely, a team should anticipate such an attack and take its countermeasures. It is just a new, perhaps even nice, extra element in the game.
Nonetheless, it sure is a good point. Lets see what those who are going to play have to say about it.
Thanks again,
Franses

Well, what can I do other then surrender to two experienced people. Thank you for your advice. So, I suggest to have the teammembers not play after each other. Before starting the game we will decide what the order to play will be.

Just to be sure. Those who are interested may post here. We do not need a complete team. If you want to participate just post here and we will make up the teams later.

Sure Quinns, you are welcome. It seems we have at least 5 players now and 6 if St Jon is in. I send him a private message to see whether he is in or not.
If he is, we are complete. If not, we need 1 player more.

Great! Thanks Franses. Would everyone be interested in making this a "rated" game?
By the way, what is current player list for this game?

|

Franses

As St Jon is not in, the player list will be:
Team 1:
The True Demosthenes
PLAYER NEEDED FOR THIS SLOT
Team 2:
420
Quinns
Team 3:
Darth Viper (Greek, alias: Damon Atreides)
Franses (Egypt, alias: Franses)
I would like the game to be rated. Please, let me know if you all agree with the teamsetting and post or mail (fransm@europe.com) me your e-mail address. Also make known whether you want the game to be rated. If I have all the e-mail adresses, I will sent them around so you can decide on the civilizations, aliasses and other things you want to agree upon as a team.
In response to the warnings made by Stavros and St Jon I suggest that the teamplayers will not play after oneanother but we will have a playing order like
Teammembers 1 of all the teams first and after that Teammembers 2 of the teams (in the same order).
Do you all agree on that?
Does anyone of you guys (or someone else reading this post) have a quick start scenario for this game?

I vote for a rated game, scoring each "individual" (not team as I can't figure out how to rate a "team" within the rating system) via the ..9th turn power graph system. I don't think this will cause too much trouble, as most players will want to increase their individual power graphs. Somebody mentioned that one team member might sacrifice power for gold thus skewing the ratings. I don't think this is that big of a concern. What do the rest of you think?

Franses, have you mailed Jon? That's probably your best option. Rated is fine with me, I could do with another rated game to stop my gradual decline in rankings. And definitely a semi-acc game!

Quinns,
It is alright with me. I do not expect that kind of problems either. If so, we should worry much more about cheating. Since I trust all players here on that, I certainly trust them regarding the ranking.
True Demosthenes,
I used the private message system to reach Jon. Sent him a message yesterday. Feel free to contact him yourself also, if you want to.

I'm sorry to hear that Jon but thank you for telling us. This means that we have one open slot. Anyone who is interested to fill this slot may post here. See the first message and the one 5 above for the rules.

toker420bong@yahoo.com is my email, and if this is a rated game is there a place where i sign up or is that atoumatically done for me?
PS. I would like to be the Irish and could someone clairify me on someo f the rules for a rated game? i read something about 4 wins on the 9th or 10th turns when using the power graph, my question is if there are six of us, then does that mean 6 wins counted instead of 4? Also the highest i have beaten the game on is emporer, still working on the diety

420,
In case you wonder (I did for a while): to find the thread "PBEM Ladders" that quinns referts to you will have to change the "show topics from last 10 days" drop down list to something like "show topics from last 100 days". It then is at the end of page 2 or beginning of page 3.
Only one more player needed.
