The game will repeatedly enter influential power shifts, where everyone agrees upon one singular course of action. For most of the early game, it was expansion and war. For the middle game it will be peace. I believe a return to war is inevitable eventually. As far as I've seen, parties are useless at this point in the game.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm still in the process of reading all the old material to get a feel for how you all are doing so far and how you've gotten to this point in the game.

Wat kind of vicotry are we looking into as a DIA party? Obviously the warmongers are going for either domination or conquest... If we are pursuing for either spaceship, cultural or diplomatic... wouldn't we be eventually be locked into eventual battle agst warmongers for control of victory condition?

eventually, yes.... but I would assert that the real time for that battle is a very long way off. For now, I think both the "warmongers" and we, the builders, actually *agree* (imagine that...) that the best strategy is to keep our options open. That will likely be the case for at least the next era of the game.

OK, now after being independent since before the game started, I have decided to join the DIA. We need to get everyone concentrating on developing our infrastructure and not who our next opponent is in the next war.

I'm sure I'm not the only "DIA member" who has never visited the Yahoo group once. I have a simple reason for this aside from the fact we shouldn't need to visit an outside cite for a party that rightly exists in here... Yahoo Groups is NOTORIOUS for selling your information and e-mail address to every single spamming company on the planet for their use...
