	DIA : renewal Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Hello fellow DIA members !

Here is a thread about the renewal of the DIA. Since Timeline's departure, our party has been sleeping pretty much. I have failed to give it a new dynamics with some discussion threads, which turned out to be opens discussions rather than pure DIA ones.

I will be even busier in Spetember than I was in August, so I think elections for a new leader is in order. If you're interested, please apply here.
Also, if you have ideas to give a new dynamics to the DIA, please share them here. Thank you.

My personal views are :

During my short leadership of the Party, I didn't insist on the position of the party often enough. Because I never really synthetized the 2 "policy" threads, the party had no coherent platform, and I didn't dare to speak in the name of the party.

Also, even if mudslinging is often bad, its complete absence made parties much less present in our political life. Some will say it's good news, but we shouldn't forget parties foster our aspirations regarding the "big picture". This is different from the institutes or academies, whose purpose is to look at short-middle term issues to find the most optimal solution.

Party politics is intended to say whether we want to be conquerors or builders, whether we want to be enligtened or barbaric. Whether we want to send our children to school or to war. Whether we want widows to mourn their children, or mothers to live in happy families.

A renewed DIA will be an essential tool to counter all the noise made by warmongers. It will also be an essential tool against all those who want to reduce our liberties in our great Democracy. Many builders and true democrats here are silent, because they feel the game is filled by warmongers and their voice won't be heard. The DIA is here for their voice to be heared, and thus is needed.

What probably should be done in the fuure for the DIA to be more present :
- A new attempt of inner debate (once we have peace). Maybe we should refuse non-DIA members in these inner debates for once. We must have a coherent platform for our leaders to tell.
- More "roleplaying" mudslinging against these brainless thugs who drink blood of French children our esteemed opponents .
- More candidates next elections, with a definite builder approach

Spiffor is right. We could even have inner debate on what mud we're going to be slinging in the long term. Though since everybody who isn't in the DIA loves to pop into our policy discussions, that might not be such a great idea.

We should also resume sending out PMs to members about the policy reached in debates.

Maybe we could do a chat to deside our policys as well as a thread that would keep thing in focus on the subject you could invite the members of the DIA.

We also need to get nomonys for for the post of party leader and vote on them.

I think that you SHOULDN'T reorganize. The parties have BOTH died, and it'll be fine to leave it at that.

If we are to reorganize, I think we should do it in an organized fashion. I think we should draft a brief Charter, including our foundation objectives and long-term policies, leadership responsibility, and how to and how often (when predeccesor resigns, every month, every two months?) to elect that leader.

We need to have a charter and some organization but first we need to figuer out the policys we support because without that why have a party. We need to figuer out the policys than get some one to write the charter and then start recruting again.

But to what degree are we against all offencive wars or do we there is a time and a place for them. What do we build first temples or market places whats the most important. So we do need to set policy.

Sorry for not answering earlier, but I warned you I'd be very busy in September

Thud : I think you're right, we should write a charter with our basic believes and aims (more than "we are builders"). We should explicitely state for what kind of victory we should strive, and hat victories we shun.
Personally, I think Spaceship is the way to go, and culture is acceptable.
Winning by domination or conquest are unacceptable, because it's show to history we're the most bloddthirtsy people on Earth. (those are personal opinions)

I don't know about you, but I've heard a lot of talk about taking over much of Persia and looking for a target after that. The DIA needs to speak up against these views.

War has been neccessary to just us a chance of winning this. Both parties knew this and so party politics kind of died out. But now, we approach a point in our history where we have a choice: to be become warmongers or develop and civilize our new lands. I believe that we will soon see parties becoming active again as our path and choices become less sure as there are several options and roads available to us now. It is all the better for us to take the initiative.

As with Calc II, I'm new to the game and I wish to join DIA.

I've made myself rather busy read back issues of the paper and looking at various old maps for now, but I figure I'll be enough up to steam in a bit to start contributing in things more than simple polls.
