Tired of ads?

I'm fine with pop rushing. That age is coming to a close now though, as we are beginning to focus on building up our cities instead of gearing them up for a major war.

I would never go Monarchy, but then I never play Religious civs. That 1 turn change is wonderful.

I agree, Monarchy suits our purposes right now. Give us more shields! More troops!

Let us crush our enemies, drive them before us and hear the lamentations of their women...

I'd never normally go to monarchy either but in this it is an advantage compared to despotism and I have always figured it can support large armies -eventually although right now we may have to dob bit of spare cash out because currently our cities are quite small. On a side note I got the ' Are you sure you want a REVOLUTION' quote which I found rather prophetic.

edit: Um I have come to a different decision- I agree we should have a revolution but not monarchy. The thing is we have 46 units to support.

Under despotism we can support 64 units. However if we change to monarchy we can only support 34 units because there are no cities that have a population greater than 6 which would leave us with a 14 gold per a turn income ( I haven't factored in corruption but I'd assume it'll be between -10/12 per a turn which would infact give us 18/20 per a turn)

Under republic the corruption is even lower and we get a mininium income of 114 per a turn because under republic each square gets +1 gold. Assuming we don't have to change the luxuries slider to kept the people happy we would earn about 50 gold per a turn assuming a corruption rate of -10 per turn.

My suggestion would be thus, change to a republic make peace with all those we are warring with and build every city up and build things such as market places to increase gpt and once we have a few cities greater than 6 we then switch to monarchy in times of war.

Yes, but I said "major" war.

I would like to go to Republic now, but it doesn't seem viable enough. We would lose a lot of money to paying for military support.

I almost never go monarchy when I'm not religious, but when you're a relatively small civ with a large military and you're religious like we are now, there's no reason not to

But we WOULD have to change the luxuries slider, because with Republic there is no martial law.

Rendelnep, regarding your last post, there are a few things I'd like to relate to:

We've recently acquired 2 additional towns (through peace negotiations with the French) so we'll have free support for 4 more units. I also estimate that we'll get Tyre and possibly Sidon in the near future and each town can get us free support for 2 additional units, as you know.

1. You mean each tile that is already worked. I'm sure that's what you meant.
2. A corruption rate of 8.7%? Even Democarcies don't enjoy such low rates of corruption.
Consider that the current rate of corruption is 26.6667% and Republic

Under Republic we also have to pay support, and we'll have to increase the entertainment rate to 20% to keep our size 3 and 4 towns out of civil disorder, at least until we bring wine to our empire and made peace with all the surrounding nations.
I agree that we should build marketplaces in our major cities, but I disagree that we should switch to Republic now. We should only switch to republic when our economy is ready, and Monarchy with its increase in production, lower corruption and the ability to use paid labor to hurry improvements and units instead of poprushing is exactly what we need to achieve this goal.

Actually Democracy and Republic rather surpass Monarchy in this aspect in most cases. It's true that Monarchic regimes can draft two citizens per turn, but a Democracy and a Republic can draft one citizen and then rush another defender with money (gained from all the extra commerce bonuses that Republics and Democracies enjoy) which will be a regular (better than the drafted citizen which will be a conscript).

hi ,

, if we had some more people in our cities , then we should have it now , its great for wars , .....

it gets lower corruption and gets more money , ...

there are some mods that allow republic to have a free unit with a metropolis , this is the case in real world , ...

it would be great if they worked a bit on this , .... firaxis that is , ...

but that is not for us , .... so lets the way that is the best , ....

there is a drawback with drafting two units , ... the people dont like it , ....

have a nice day
