I say switch to Monarchy after having everyone pop rush who can. This way we can use Depotisms only plus and then move on to Monarchy.

It's because of the method we kill him. You see we have him hanging by a chain above a pool of sharks. The chain slowly lowers, and doesn't stop until the job is done. What the people don't know is billy is already dead (that's how we keep him chained motionless for an entire 20 year turn). The sharks are pretty much just a formality.

I've done the math and I've reached the conclusion that with Monarchy we'll be making about the same gpt that we make now (give or take 1 or 2 gpt) and produce a few more shields per turn (thanks to lower waste and the lifting of the "standard tile penalty").
Other than that, Monarchy will serve as a jumping board to Republic. Our population will finally have the chance to grow and pretty soon Republic will become a viable government type.

Trevman: Republic is unarguably the worst choice right now. The upkeep will kill us. We need more citizens working more tiles before we can justify switching to Republic.
