Questions on Game version differences Enter the AD-FREE zone

So what version of the game will we be playing with? I know it is SMAC and not SMAX, but is the last patch installed on the version we started with? If not, how will viewing the save with different versions affect things? For instance I have SMAX installed, which of course means the latest version of SMAC as an alternative. Do I now need to reinstall the original SMAC to play the game during chats without odd effects, or are different versions of SMAC compatible with one save, unlike Civ3?

And to all the Directors and Darkness' - what version do you have installed, and what versions do you have access to?

when you have SMAX, you have the choice of playing SMAX or SMAC. just open Terran.exe instead of Terranx.exe. i can only assume everyone has V4.0.

I don't because I don't know how to install the patch. If you decide to help me, first off thanx, please explain in detail for my mind is not very good with vague answers.

v4.0... Hmm. Somehow that doesn't sound familiar to me I downloaded the newest patch available from these pages some months ago.

(too lazy to actually go and check my version on the other comp. )
