	HoMM: Special Units Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Just wondering... Which units do you think are the best SPECIALS...

Examples:

The Sharpshooters
The Enchanters
Nomads
Peasants
Rogues
The Hobbits :thumbsdown:
Crystal Dragons
Rust Dragons
Faery Dragons
Azure Dragons

Specials are those creatures you can't recruit in a town, but must find their creature dwellings.

I'd have to say that Sharpshooters or Enchanters are my favorites as the Sharpshooters are wicked with teh bow and the enchanters have GREAT expert-level spells as well as being great range fighters.

The Azure dragons run closely because of their sheer power.

The Crystal and Rust ones cost too much.

As for the Faery dragons- by the time you get them in the game... unless you have 2-5, they'll be fairly weak and easily wiped out.

As for rogues, nomads and hobbits- the less said the better

Sharpshootters.
for they mix well with my Castle troops (repleasing pikemen.), aren't that expencive and have deadly ranged attack.
others aren't that good or they cost too much. (tough, Enchanters are good)

It's a coin-toss between Azure Dragons and Faery Dragons. Azure Dragons are the fastest unit in the game (helps out my Necro army quite a bit), but Faery Dragons are also quite fast and can be kept safely in the back row using their spellcasting ability (which is useful to a Necro army that can't Resurrect a fallen Azure Dragon or Faery Dragon). Regardless, only the Dragon units are worth having in a Necro army, since the morale penalties make the other special units a lot less helpful. (You've still got morale penalties with the Dragons, but it's worth it.)

I'd assume HOMM3, since Faery Dragons aren't special units in HOMM4.

mhh but Sharpshooters are regular Castle Units?
Well at least in the German Version thats what the Upgraded Castle Archers are called.
mhh as i think about It I have the Strange Feeling those units meant abiove are called Rangers or smth. cant remember...

In the English version the upgraded Castle Archers are called Marksmen, with Sharpshooters being the neutral unit.

elementals (those 4 not upgrated ones) were special units before the conflux towns arrived.

Sharpshooters, definately. You can literally recruit hordes of them, since Elves and Aerchers are fairly basic units. Shame that they die in droves - they dish out a hell of a lot of damage.

IIRC, Liches and Power Liches don't do any damage against golems, which means that it's impossible for Necros to pick them off from a distance.

Type Touche in MS Word.
Spell checker corrects to Touché
Copy/Paste into 'poly.
