Did it bother you, or did you just keep on truckin' ?

My ex once told my mother, "Sloww's like chocolate candy. Really good for a while, but it doesn't take long to get enough of him".

After she divorced me for the 2nd time; I've been seeing this...significant other, and she says, "You remind me of Woodrow (in the miniseries Lonesome Dove).
I hate Woodrow".





Ok now. I've bared my soul. Exposed myself (figuratively Jon, so calm down ) to all.

no i remember now. a former "collegue" of mine called me at home and then accidentaly left on his phone. i had the answeribng machione on cause i wasnt home.

he had some friendsthere and he started talking about me

he said i was too pushy and an assh)le which was odd cause he sure didnt act like he was thinking

i still think he is OK (although trying and failing to be very manipulative)

he got fired now

I've had alot of nasty things said both in front and behind my back (I lead a very dramatic life), but the thing that comes to mind was when a lie was told about a previous circumstance that… needless to say was very harmful to my image and I had to clarify the truth.

I had a rather nasty falling out with a friend, and he accused me falsely of several things. I can't say that hurt all that much, since the things he was accusing me of were things that he was actually guilty of. I was also glad to have his drama out of my life.

Specifically, when I was the Finance Committe Chair for my college's student government, the head of the campus's Women's Issues Group (ultra-nuts feminists) called me, and I quote, "A cocksucking Nazi" after I slashed their budget to $0 due to several violations of the finance rules. Had I been out at the time, I could have at least responded "Madam, you are half right."

One time in high school I was out jogging with the X-country team, and the group I was with jogged through a group of junior high-schoolers. One of the little twerps pointed at me and said "Hey, look at how hairy he is, he's like an ape or something!" I turned to the kid and said "It's called puberty, and it's the reason that I'm not a limp-dicked little **** like you." In hindsight, I wouldn't say that his obervations particularly bothered me.

Another time, in my Philosophy of Religion class, somebody accused me of being "too rational." I responded, (rather confusedly), "I didn't even know that was possible." I'm still not sure if that even counts as a legitimate insult...

I am discounting anything said in highschool and before, as those were dumb things said by hormonal kids in an atmosphere where being cruel is a sport. I'm thinking more of deliberately hateful things by people who should know better.

Oh, well in that case I can't think of anything mean that anybody's ever said to me (except for the "too rational" insult, which like I said I'm not even sure counts as an insult). Maybe they have, but if so then it didn't seem to have left much of an impression on me.

therein lies the interesting thing.

she didn't specify my "type" in any respect.

racially, we are both white americans.
economically, we are both upper-middle class.
she's a devout catholic, i'm a defensive atheist.

i would have assumed that was it (she teaches religion to children at the local church, while I bash religion anytime i possibly can), but that doesnt explain the "glance over" she gave me.

I can only assume she doesnt like people who are
