Hello,

Each time I tried to join a game or to create a game
I got the message: "connexion was lost". What's happen ?

I need more info.

1) how is your ping to the servers, which servers do you see ?

2) how is your ping to other players in server lobby?

3) can you chat in the server lobby?

4) can you read other players' profiles?

5) What type of connection are you using?

I would also like to set-up a meeting to experience your problem firsthand. As it is the weekend I am available anytime after 01:00GMT saturday. Post a time and a server to meet in.

Also, if the only three servers you can see are us1, us2 and uk1; your problem is bad server.dat file. Email me and I send you a good one.

Hello Swissy and Slamp!

If Slamp gets his problem fixed, how about an internet game tonight (Friday) at about 8:30 p.m. Apolyton Time?? (I think that's about 01:30 GMT Saturday, I always forget if Apolyton time is 4 or 5 hours behind GMT because of daylight savings time.)

If you're interested, how about an escalating courtesy turn around time as follows:

Turns 1 -> 50 = 1 minute
Turns 51 -> 100 = 2 minutes
Turns 101 and above = 3 minutes

Is this reasonable or is there a better way??

Anybody else interested??

General problems with Internet/Lan play for CTP

1)you cannot use AOL - because of the 45 minute sys timer.

2) if you connect at 8:30 pm the echo bug is active.Because the lines are so noisy , You will realise that you Double type in lobbys , And cant join rooms because you will get an abrupt "cannot join lobby" Then you cant leave the lobby.Atleast this is the Case with my Isp (AOL)

3) on average players get Ejected every hour. So be prepared to clean up the AIs Mess (and they really mes things up).

Well that was my first real internet experience with CTP. Saddam is right. All four games I played were interrupted and none were even close to finished. One was saved, but a lot of the players are fickle, and quit quite often -- or maybe they just got disconnected. In either case, it gets kind of annoying. It was somewhat enjoyable though. But a lot of the players like to race through the game. "ZZZZZZZZZZ" and "Are you there?" are common after about a minute of time on your turn. So much for my internet experience. Fun but frustrating and racey. My opinions are now done. Praise be to CTP PBEM!

Well Quinns and I have a great game on the go. It depends who you play some are just impatient, some do it as a tactic. Lets face it if they do not like the pace tell them to quit make it clear if they do they lose points. Not likely they will if it is for GL points. Other than that ignore them generaly I find these people are the ones you woop their collective butts. They may have 10 cities lol and not much for armies. Any way the game is a blast hope to see more PBEMers out there. Oh one other point, speed in a multiplayer game is more important as it is slower to begin with. Try one on one games to start.

Ok quinns tonight it is, tomorrow we will have to wing it I will try to be there.

Hi jpww some of us here belong to the gameleague (gl) www.gameleague.megaultra.com to sign up.
We then proceed to the multiplayer button in your CTP game, pick a game name (profile) and proceed from there to a server to play CTP online with a hundred or so CTP freaks

Gameleague has just recently started tribes for CTP (team play) so it is getting interesting.

Grrr........how can you people play over internet...My ISP throws me off evey 45 minutes, Cause i am "inactive". Even tho i keep chat rooms and Re-load pages blaring. Stupid AOL boot me.....anyway what ISP do you all use? Im switching, and erm......i need suggestions of fast and steady connections. AOL is now GAY-O-L (gay on line), thats about how it works.

anyway any help would be appreciated i am a frusterated puppy. Ive started probably 8000 games and never do i remember aactually finishing one.Plz Help....

Your system looks ok, except for the 56K modem and AOL.

Look into DSL. It will cost you twice as much as AOL. I checked out www.dslreports.com and it looks like you have a choice of Ameritech and Telocity. I have Ameritech and after about 6 months of inconsistent connections it seems to be good now. I am considering changing to Earthlink, but since I have to go thru an Ameritech CO to hook up, so it may be all just to same.

If you can't get DSL try another dial-up company like Earthlink. I had AOL, and used a stay-alive program to defeat their connection monitoring, but my program stopped working when I got AOL 5.0.

Personaly I had AOL for about three weeks and dumped it.
It is the worse ISP on the planet. I use cable fast, reliable and cost's more. But I use the internet a lot so to me it is worth every penny.
If you do drop AOL and pay by credit card keep your eyes on your future bills. The zelots at AOL are into profit sharing and do not be surprised if one of them sign you up again without your knowledge.
