Apolyton Mod Problems Remove this text

I have tried to install the Apolyton Mod and to the best of my knowledge have done everything right. I have Modswapper and the Official patch and to ru the new mod as far as i see it you replace the default&english files in CTP2 Data and then run the thing via Modswapper.

But oh no!
I get this message when I try to run it;
PATH ERROR
"civ3Idl not found in asset tree"

What does this mean and more importantly how can I run the dam thing

Oh by the way can you really have bigger map sizes and whats the limit?

Er... not quite. the mod doesnt replace all the files, just some. You have to unzip the mod into your main CtP2 folder, and it does the rest automatically.

open the *_const (for the apolyton pack the prfix is APOL) and look for the lines:

code:
MAP_SIZE_SMALL 30 60 2 MAP_SIZE_MEDIUM 48 96 2 MAP_SIZE_LARGE 64 128 2 MAP_SIZE_GIGANTIC 80 160 2

where the first number stands for height of the map, the second the width, and the last i have no idea so just write a 2 .

200X240 (I can hear my comp memory groaning at the thought!)

I have a few island continents that look alright but inbetween them I got this freaky hotpotch that looks like no earth I know of!

BTW the freaking out is perfectly normal for me, especially when nurse hides my pills

Yes, I believe a world the size 200X240 is just a tad bit too much.. and it's out of proportion. With your current size, it should be either 120X240 or 200X400...but I would try the 120X240 and see how that feels...Your computer might just cus you out if you try the 200X400 setting!

120X240 works well, the other blew the computer`s mind!

The terrain still looks a bit odd in place but with a bit of patience it`ll do.

Put an end to popups!

Glad to hear it...I figured your computer would be upset with the 200X400.

I've found that 100X200 works good.

Okay, to dispell some questions about the mapsizes:

- The third digit (2 in the file) MUST be a two.
- The second digit MUST be twice the size of digit one (eg: 100 x 200, 50 x 100, 1 x 2).

To get a proper looking map like I did, you also need to modify the values in map.txt. This controls the generation of the terrain within the maps. I found, that without modifying this file you ended up with some REALLY wierd terrain formats.

Hope this helps.

BTW, look for the return of Ultra-Gigantic maps in AOM.

No, it doesn't. Any size will do, as long as the ratio isn't too extreme (e.g. 100:1) and the values aren't too low (e.g. 1x2), anything goes...

Exactly, that's what was the problem here: if you create very large maps without modifying map.txt accordingly, you will get huge sections of the aforementioned 'freaky hotpotch'.
