This is a scenario set in 1930 (you’ll have to ignore the game year) on an original, huge world map. It features 20 new resources (with Harlan’s resource mod,) 3 new and 3 renamed (for the era) civilizations with Civilopedia entries and 6 new units, all of which have new entries in the Civilopedia. There are also 6 leaderheads, (3 of ccm01’s and 3 of sween32’s) 4 of them are animated. The A/D/M rates have been reset for a large map and some units have acquired new properties.
As you can expect, file size is large (16.5 MB ace file) and the first turn takes a while, once the AI gets a grip on what it has, the speed does pick up.
I’ve set up a web page with more information on the mod and the download but any questions, comments or critique should be directed to this thread.
Here’s the link: http://www.miccofl.net/Civ3/the20thcenturymod.htm and here’s a look at the map.
Edit: Subject
Edit: You wil need Win Ace to decompress the file if you don't have it it is available (shareware) here: http://www.winace.com/cgi-bin/getfi...inace&width=628

This has been downloaded 2827 time(s).

I haven't had time to play it yet but can't wait. I am working on a way to install it without messing up the current mod I have installed.

Alright.
BTW Miccofl, If maps can get this big could you convert the map to something like 400 X 400?

There is a lot of discussion about a UU to an eventually Brazilian civilization at some forums here in Brazil.
Some people think an enhanced explorer, simulating the “bandeirante”, whose have been responsible for the rapid expansion of Brazil’s boundaries, will be a good choice. Maybe an explorer that can settle cities and treaty all type of terrain as roads.
I heard once that a Brazil UU would to be from period of Paraguay War, where Brazil’s armed forces was tested to the maximum defending the homeland against the Paraguay invasion. I think the main Brazil military force there was the Rifleman and, in reduced numbers, Cavalry. But I think the best in this case will be a Rifleman with an increased attack.
Another good choice would be a modified infantry unit, which can be the “expedicionario” that have fought for us in WWII.
The problem with the “bandeirante” is that some people thinks he only had existed directly by the Portuguese, so they wouldn’t a truly Brazilian UU.
The “expedicionario” would be a good UU, but if I have to make a choice of one of the three, I think I’ll choose the modified Rifleman. They represent a period in history where Brazil was the most powerful regional military power, which had pushed the entire Paraguay military force (that time they was one of the finest in the world) back to their country and have occupied it for a lot of years.
Hope I had helped.

OK, how about a save file? I can’t tell what (if anything) is wrong without viewing what is happening in your game.
The first turn is long, in the middle it runs smooth and relatively quick, the last few turns are usually: human – about 4-6 hrs, computer (AI) 30-90 min, but that is because of the world war. I’ve won this one on cultural, domination, diplomacy and space race, the last turn takes about 8-9 hrs to play (7.5 hrs for me the rest for the AI.) As stated this is a fully developed scenario. The only difference between this, and other huge map scenarios is this one starts in the late industrial era and not the Stone Age and units can cross the map before your hair turns gray if they weren’t gray already from getting to this point in time. Huge map scenarios are notorious for being slow, this one builds everything for you and allows you to skip the early BS and get right into the meat of the game. Personally, I believe the longer it takes for the AI to play “Its” turn, the better I have played mine. Don’t expect any turn in this scenario to last less then one half hour, unless you plan to lose.
