I'm so disappointed to know that this feature is not in PTW. I guess Faraxis cannot write the AI to handle this. But they can at least do it for multiplay. We humans can handle this right? And this feature is very simple to implement.

Actually, General Maximus, I think you have to think of unit trades in a sort of abstract fasion. That is, technically, you are not giving them YOUR infantry, you are simply giving them a whole heap of guns, ammunition and body armour! The abstract part is that you are losing one of your own infantry. I guess, though, that you can assume that, without all those guns and ammo, you had to "disband" one of your infantry divisions!

Here's a possible idea, you can sell, give or trade units to another civ, but ONLY if you have either an MPP or Alliance with that Civ! That would remove the exploit fashion of Unit trading, and perhaps allow a way for a Civ to honour an MPP agreement WITHOUT having to declare war himself!
Anyway, just a thought.

Or, if both trader involved in war, those unit will be teleported to the nearest city (or capitol) of the original owner. It won't be difficult to implement the code, since currently we can have other civ's worker. May be just a flag to indicate whether the unit class should be returned or not if war errupt.
The idea was, the buyer/renter will have the unit's fire power for its war against other civ by paying only the maintenance cost (or may be not) without have to build it, while the seller will have reserve unit without having to pay its upkeep (ok, for this scenario, maybe more code will be needed)
