Mmmmnnno. That's Ok, I'd rather not risk it. It's not really a story, or some headliner comdedy routine, just a one-liner that's just 'a tad bit' suggestive. Considering there are minors on this site, I really don't wish to say.

I act as a pseudo-moderator at an gay adult forum, where we take protecting minors VERY seriously. I'd have ethical conflicts if I went further than I already have in this thread.

Asher, it's really just a matter of when and where I personally draw the line. The things we've said thus far have only alluded to 'things.' My one-liner just takes it to the next logical step by aluding to 'actions,' and I'm just not willing to take it that step in the context of this forum. Additionally, the stuff that's already been said is pretty much the same level of sophistication as the jokes we heard back in grade school. Many kids have already been exposed to those kinds of 'EWW THAT'S ICKY' :P jokes. So we got away with it here today/tonight. But I just don't want to see if I can push the boundary a little further, that's all.

As far a people being offended, they can kiss my fat, hairy, black...and white cat Samantha. I could care less if someone has a problem with me being gay. If they want a fight about it...well, we'll not go there either.

Beside, I've already spent three hours on this forum tonight...three hours I could have spent playing MOOII or Civ3!

Uber - I'm sure the roommate was embarassed about what happened and this situation must be far worse for him.

The only reason this should chage anything is that he wasn't honest in the first place, but it isn't easy to tell someone you're gay.

I don't see why the roommate should be blamed in some way for not telling the roommate he was gay sooner. That's his business, not the roommate's. I don't think gays should have to announce their sexuality upon first meeting, especially in a college dorm situation.

Roommate 1: Hi, I'm John, how are you?
Roommate 2: Hi, I'm Ted, and I'm gay, you?
Roommate 1: Uh...

I mean, it's not like such a thing works easily into normal conversation, especially to a young college guy who may not be out to anyone anyway.

Hopefully your friend went back and talked to the roommate right away and expressed that he didn't have a problem with his roommate being gay. Even if he didn't like catching him like that, he should make it clear that it was the situation that shocked him, not his roommate's sexuality (I hope). That will reassure the roommate that he's got nothing to fear from him while also opening the conversation to preventing a repeat (like the trusty sock signal).

And you, Uber, will hopefully treat the guy no differently, keep your breakfast meeting with him and leave it at that.

I would just talk to him about it, I assume your friend is not gay and so will not be interested in getting it off with his room mate.

His room mate will not make a move if he knows your friend is not interested at all , so he has nothing to worry about.
