Would it be possible to hack vbulletin and let us link to an avatar without it being stored locally on the server? The reason I ask is because I've got a neat php script on my site that pulls up a random image from a folder. If I use that as the url for my avatar, though, it picks a random image but then stores that one image on the server. Thus defeating the point of a random-image getting script. This isn't too high up on my priorities, just something that would be nice.

Ah, I found that they've got this hack (or something similar) at vbulletin.org:

Ah, like my avatar at Gamecatcher, which doesn't always work... I'm blaming that on Lycos Yes I would love this feature to be available when I can sp... Post enough useful info to get a custom avatar...

Put an end to popups!

The main use for an avatar is to quickly recognise a poster. Continually changing on a random basis messes it up.

That may be good or bad, depending on your views.
