Official : Location of base three
The minerals gathered in New Apolyton finally allowed us to finish that colony pod. with these new materials, we tried to build this pod same as they were built on earth. According to the latest reports I received, the results made the director of base production are amazing ! He made a pod exactly like they were built on earth, in less time, and with less materials !!! ( remember how long it takes to build a CP in the end of Civ2...)
Now, the question last : where will we put our base ?
Despite the last vote oviously tending to colonize eastern of New Apolyton, I suggest an option for building it west, since east hasnt been explored yet, and we can see a large field of fungus. Maybe this field will happen to be larger than it seems, and thats why I suggest a "west" option.
Due to our large exploration of northern lands, and the strange technology we found there in some interesting monoliths, it could be a wise option too.
There for, this poll will have three options : North, West, And East. Please post also a specific tile (ie West : Now-NW of southern Nutrient tile to New Apolyton). Note that you dont have to post a specific location.
The Cp will then head for the direction which has the more votes, and will settle in the most popular tile amongst the ones selected.
Note that this poll allows multiple vote.
You can also post multiple precise tiles in the direction(s) you first chosen.
Example of a valid vote :
West : NorthWest NorthWest of the southern nutrient tile to New Apolyton
West : West Northwest of the southern nutrient tile to New Apolyton
North : North of norther monolith

Damn!!!! I wanted to vote North West but I clicked North East through shear lack of coffee. What I wanted to say was we should put the mnext base between the two monoliths (which is essentially North North West of our current territory).
MY VOTE: Specifically, I think the base should be 1 square north and then one square diagonally north east from the lower monolith. That way the base's radius will cover both monoliths. It will mean we will need a different port on this coast, but this base should do well despite the lack of sea access due to the monoliths, the rainy squares and the river.
Strategically it will also help cut off the northern land mass, helping to prevent southern expansion by any foes that may lurk in that uncharted territory to the north.

I think I like the current plan better - sure there is overlap but we can reinforce the new city with foot soldiers in one turn from NA if we leave it in Lemmy's spot. Safety first!

here's a drawing with the base radii shown, green is how it was in my first drawing, and the red is the overlap, now if the NA pod would go one tile further to the southwest, there would be a lot less overlap, and i think we should do that, cos NA already has some overlap with TBIBTU, and could need more overlap with our base east to shut it off.
And as you can also see, the northen base has a lot of overlap, i think it would be best if the monoliths are divided between 2 bases, instead of 1. But this is still a few turns away like Pande said...
