Do you still play Civ II Tired of ads?

With the release of PTW coming up... I was just wondering how many hard core people are still playing Civ II. It's obvious from the lower activity levels in the Civ II forums that people seem to be fading away slowly and steady.

So what about you.

I get about 3 sessions a week these days, and will continue to do so until PTW ports to Mac. Have been playing less than a year, so there's still much to learn -- even with the advantage of direct access to my local Deities.

I'm still a CivII fanatic - just not got much time at the moment and devoting most of the little I have to Morrowind - a magnificent game, but it will pass and civ will remain ...

I keep playing as always. I have alternated civ, moo and mom for 4 years, then civ2 and various games since I bought civ2. I have just bought morrowind and released Clash D7 so these take precedence right now but I expect civ2 to come back within a month. Civ3 won't impact me as I think it is not worth buying. There are too many things in it which I think won't make enough progress over civ2 for me to purchase it. Moo3 might be a contender, but my experience with moo was I always got back to civ, then got bored, played moo and mom, then came back to civ. Moo3 will be the sae (if people here persuade me to buy it).

Nahhh... don't worry about that. If anything like that was in the works, they would probably tell me... right...

Actually, these is just a cheap trick on my part. I started a similar poll in the Civ II MP forum. That one was so that I could clean out my ICQ contact list and get rid of the people that no longer play civ mp...

This thread was to see who might be recruited for MP games

(and I actually was interested to see who was still playing in light of Civ III and other games)

Is Westlake going to port PtW and the 1.29 PC patch? The last I heard, they hadn't confirmed either of those and that the downloads of the Mac-specific Civ III editor would play a role in determining whether or not anything else would be done with Civ III.

As to the question, yes, I play Civ II exclusively as time permits. I have yet to get Civ III.

I think I've rarely played Civ2 for the last 4 years.

Occasionally I'm in the mood and play a game or two for a few weeks, I played several succession games, played some ToT when I bought that little over a year ago...

Most of my "Civ2 time" I spend on Apolyton, and then some testing, hacking and programming (MapEdit!)... And the very occasional website update, and even more rarely making a map.

But I don't feel I left Civ2... Other games aren't doing much better, and I don't have Civ3 nor the intention to buy it (whatever update), but that's largely related to my wallet.

I'm still planning to finally master Deity, become a ToT scenario guru, create the ultimate Civ2 utility (in my dreams). But at the current rate that will take some time still.

I still play Civ2 - I've rediscovered the pleasure of the game after spending (wasting) a few months playing with Civ3.

This is a common thing with me... I buy a new game and after a couple of months its boring and I toss it away - and go back to Civ2 which I never seem to get bored of.

Actually, I've just started creating scenarios for Civ2 so the game is certainly not dead for me - actually getting more interesting. I may start playing email games.

i've recently come back to civ2 because i've found very few (if any) other games that hold my attention the way civ does. i ran out and bought civ3 just as soon as it hit the shelves, but lost interest after a few weeks...it just didnt have the same addictiveness as civ2.

Mostly, i like the scenarios that civ2 offers. there are some GREAT scenario builders in the civ2 community, and as long as there are great scenarios, i will continue to civ.

word.

out.
