Starting a Killer game. Tired of ads?

I'll start a game with this simple rule for winning :
You have to "kill" a specific civ. Your victim have of course to kill another civ (but you). Strange alliances can occur.

For example (with three player): Greek have to kill Roman. Roman Have to Kill French. French have to kill Greek.

I'm looking for a good mod, for such game.

Are players interested by such game ?

Full PM-box? Change here!

want to make it more fun? Set up a game admin and keep each players target civ private. So no one knows who is going to come after them. Two words. Extreme Paranoia.

What happens once one civ kills its target? Does the civ quit?

Brilliant Idea, I'm in if you have a slot... Make for some interesting Alliances!!

King Thors idea sounds good too.

If a player quits, then they should nominate (perhaps in advance), someone to send the turns to - (likewise it they are unavailable/away).

The administrator (if chosen) could also run a couple of Civs, just to keep everyone on their toes, and they could become a new target for a Civ that has defeated it's enemy (otherwise the game could be over too quick?)

Ot if we are receiving admiminstrators instructions throughout - if a player defeats his enemy (and wins) we could all receive instructions to suspend hositilities and all turn on the winner - then resume the game, and/or Administrator could give control of a new civ to winner with new instructions.

To King Thor : Of course players know only who he (she) must kills.

End of game :
1) The first who kills its target win (fast).
2) There must be only one.

If somebody your target civ is killed, then you take its target.

Maybe I have to create a new mod.

Not ten Settlers surely? I agree multiple settlers, maybe three or four, and some gold, but not so much as to rush buy wonders...makes it a lottery and removes some of the challenge.

Killer Game Rules :
Version 1.2

Description :
Each civilization had to destroy an other civilization. The killer have to destroy its target. Of course each killer is the target of another killer. This is a bloodlust kind game. There is two kind of killer game :

  1. Quick game. The game ends when a killer first kills its target.
  2. Highlander game : There must be only one! Only one civilization must survive. Pure Bloodlust.

And 2 options :

  1. No Innocent : Killing an "innocent" civilization is penalized (see § "Killing an innocent civilization").
  2. Killed Target Always Count : Kill of an target always count for its Killer, even if another civilization destroyed it (see § " A civilization kills your target").

Starting the game :

  1. The game start as a normal PBEM game.
  2. This a Blood Lust game.
  3. At begin each civilization will be informed of there first target.
  4. A civilization knows only the name of its target.
  5. A target doesn't know the name of its "killer".

First Target Assignation Rules :

  1. The target of each civilization chosen by the game administrator at his own convenience.
  2. One target by civilization.
  3. A target cannot have as target its killer.

Notes about point #1. Of course it could be wise that the game administrator takes in consideration the skill level of each player. The starting position can be took in consideration too.

Game termination (Quick Game):

When a civilization kills its target at turn X, then the game will ends only when all players play turn X. With this system multiple winners are possible.

Game termination (Highlander Game):

The rule is simple : the game ends when it left only one civilization.
Optional rule : When there left only two civilization, both can agree to a null result : both civilization will win the game. Each players and the game administrator must agree.

Killer Score :
Each player begins with the killer score of 0 point.
The player's "Killer score" raises by one point when :

  • He succeeds to kills its OWN target.
  • He succeeds to kills its OWN killer.

Rated Game

In this game the rank of a player is impacted by is rank in the power graph, and the total of killed target he has. Each 10 turns, the administrator determine the final rank for each player.

To establish the final rank of a player, the administrator take as base the rank in the power graph.
Then he compare in the following chart, the player's Killer Score with each of other player.
The comparison with each other players indicate if his rank go one step up or down.

The chart indicate the rank modification condition of player A when he's compared to Player B.
If player A have a higher rank than player B, A's rank losses one point if the player B's KS minus Player A's KS is at least equal to the value indicate in the chart. This value is found at the row equal to player A rank and the column equal to player B rank.
If player A have a lower rank than player B, A's rank gains one point if the player A's KS minus Player B's KS is at least equal to the value indicate in the chart. This value is found at the row equal to player A rank and the column equal to player B rank.

To get the final rank of a player, he had to be compared successively to each other player from the highest rank to the lowest.

First calculate the final rank of the first player in the power graph ranking.

Rank modification condition table :

P

A
Y

Get it ?

Example :
A killer game with 6 players. 3 players have been "killed".
At the end of turn 199, the game have to be rated.
The power graph ranks players as follow (The player Killer Score is added at the end of the line):
1st : Player 2 - Killer Score = 1
2nd : Player 4 - Killer Score = 0
3rd : Player 1 - Killer Score = 1
4th : Player 6 - Killer Score = 1 (Killed)
4th : Player 5 - Killer Score = 0 (Killed)
4th : Player 3 - Killer Score = 0 (Killed)

1) Final rank of Player 2
- Player 2 (Rank 1, KS = 1) compared to player 4 (rank 2, KS = 0).
The Condition Value (CV) in the chart is 1. Player 2 rank is superior to player 4 rank.
Player 4 KS - Player 2 KS = -1 (not superior or equal to the CV). Player 2 doesn't loss rank with player 4.
- Player 2 (Rank 1, KS = 1) compared to player 1 (rank 3, KS = 1).
The condition value in the chart is 1. Player 2 rank is superior to player 4 rank.
Player 4 KS - Player 2 KS = 0 (not superior or equal to the CV). Player 2 doesn't loss rank with player 1.
>>> Final rank of player 2 = rank 1 + 0 rank - 0 rank = rank 1

2) Final rank of Player 4
- Player 4 (Rank 2, KS = 0) compared to player 2 (rank 1, KS = 1).
The condition value in the chart is 1. Player 4 rank is inferior to player 2 rank.

- Player 4 (Rank 2, KS = 0) compared to player 1 (rank 3, KS = 1).
The condition value in the chart is 1.
Player 4 KS - Player 1 KS = 1 (superior or equal to the CV). Player 4 loses one rank with player 1.
>>> Final rank of player 2 = rank 2 - 1 rank + 0 rank = rank 3

3) Final rank of Player 1
- Player 1 (Rank 3, KS = 1) compared to player 2 (rank 1, KS = 1).
The condition value in the chart is 1. Player 1 rank is inferior to player 2 rank.
Player 1 KS - Player 2 KS = 0 (not superior or equal to the CV). Player 1 doesn't win rank with player 2.
- Player 1 (Rank 3, KS = 1) compared to player 4 (rank 2, KS = 0).
The condition value in the chart is 1. Player 1 rank is inferior to player 4 rank.
Player 1 KS - Player 4 KS = 1 (superior or equal to the CV). Player 1 win one rank with player 4.
>>> Final rank of player 2 = rank 3 - 0 rank + 1 rank = rank 2

FINAL RANKING :

1st : Player 2
2nd : Player 1
3rd : Player 4

your KS raises by 1 point.
The target of your killed target becomes yours (Highlander Game)

You become the target of its.

Killing an innocent civilization :
An innocent civilization is a civilization which is not your killer and not your target.
Your earn no KS point.
OPTION "No Innocent" : If this option is used, a player who kill an innocent civilization, losses 0.5 KS point.

A civilization kills your target :
In a Quick Game : you don't win, but a new target is affected to you if option "Killed Target Always Count" is off. Else if the option in on, you win (and you earn one KS point)!
In a Highlander game : the target of your former target becomes your new target. If "Killed Target Always Count" is on, your earn 1 KS point.

I don't quite follow all the rules... But count me in!

Questions:

1. I'm confused about how to calculate the power graph results at the *9 turn point. Could you explain this a bit more?

2. What happens if two or more players have the same number of points, (i.e, a tie)?

Great idea Zobo Z!

Good questions quinns...

1) Power Graph result.

At the end of turn 9, Administrator look at the Power Graph Ranking.

My Idea is, for each "Killer Score" point you have, your rank go 2 positions up. I give more importance to a good killer than a good civer.

My strange formula helps to evaluate players ranking. But I will change it.
If you want help me ...

2) I don't know : What do we do, in a normal PBEM game two player have the same rank ?

Alright. I see. But we never have had a tie in PG rankings. Always has been one pixel higher/lower. Using your formula, though, ties would be common, I think.

I will help you on the formula if you like. One solution is, instead of multiplying by an even 2, multiply by 2.1 instead. This would prevent the ties.

I don't wish to play, but will volunteer to moderate.

Can I suggest some slight changes to the rules?

When the game starts,
If the target of W is X,
and the target of X is Y,
and the target of Y is Z.

When X kills Y, he inherits the target of Y so
the target of X becomes Z.

But if X attacks Y and X gets destroyed,
W inherits a new target of Y.

This technique ensures a chain of target/killer, which does not ever get broken. It's also interesting because as X, you may decide to give Y a breather from being attacked so they can go wage war on Z who will be your next target!

Attacking somebody who is not your target is not permitted. (Napoleon, Hitler, etc. all learned you should not fight a war on 2 fronts ) If you think about, once wars start, you will always be at war with your target and your killer, so fighting even more wars sounds suicidal.

Yes, PN. I think (I may be wrong) that my "chain kills" works as you describe. So I agree with you.

And yes it's suicidal to kill an "innocent" civilization, because the killer of this civilization becomes your killer. So you have 2 killers after you, a bad situation.
Such game will incite carefull and smart diplomaty, I hope.

I've add 2 options to the games.

Note to Quinns : I've modified the rating procedure.
