	To all PBEMers! ROLE-PLAYING contest! Put an end to popups!

People,
We're opening a contest for best role-playing PBEM player. This means, when you play your turns, you not only post the usual note: "Turn to Solver", but you also write some story there, and it's better if it matches the actual position of players there. For example, tell about how Sancho explores the rich incan lands, or about General McCoy, whos Bomber is followed by the evil Interceptors of those terrible Germans.
Play well, and hope to win the prizes we have got fot you.
I hope that MarkG will soon post here to present you with more info on prizes. We're currently working on judge search.
It takes little effort, I hope. And if you play PBEM, why not make more experience of it?

To join the contest, post to this thread, and include which PBEMs are you in, so that we know in which threads to seek for your stories.
If you want to be a judge of the contest, either post to the thread, or perhaps email me, if you don't want to post here, so that everyone can see your offer.
Also, I'd like to hear suggestions on what length would you offer for the contest. It can't be too short, assuming the PBEM speed, so vote here.
Of course, the decisions will be taken by the administrators, but we'll listen to what you have to say here.

BirdMan, both games accepted. Do some PBEM? is INCREDIBLY slow (1 turn = 1 week, usually), but you make amazing roleplaying there. OK, perhaps we'd give you the prize now?
And I see noone wants to judge this?

We've been doing roleplay for ages. Check out Swissy 2, Demos or Love Conquers for some interesting stories. And for those who just want a good read, dig up Semi-Acc from the archives, what a winner!

It's very old now, and I don't even have the link to it anymore but I'm sure other players will, but for sheer effort I reckon Duck Hunter's Dutcheese Newspaper must take first prize.

For 'On Thread' RP I think dear old Semi-Acc takes a lot of beating for the way that everyone contributed right the way through. Mobius has been a great 'Torquemada' in LC? and his crazed 'Caligula' in Demos was pretty good too.

Fraze's idea seems the way to go - as for DL's, perhaps if we limit the voting to players on the ladder?

Thanks for the vote of confidence St Jon - same with your saintly sermons, even if I sometimes wonder what you're on at times...?

There's plenty of good RP'ers out there, especially the posse from the Demos, Semi Acc and Love Conquers games - I'll be reading up on the rest to see what I've been missing!

Perhaps week could run this comp after a 'Roleplaying Week' so everyone has a fairer chance? Hopefully at the end, everyone will stay in the habit and improve the quality of our CtP site - it's great to read other 'stories' as the good one's really capture the imagination!

Keep up the good work everyone!

How are you guys planning to judge a the RP? I mean is it specific to a game, or in general (ie. all games?), is it dependent on frequency? Quality? Quantity? Story type? humour? All of the above?

I role play in all of my games, but I dont post unless I have to time to post. Also I tend to post in the games when things get interesting, because you can do more roleplaying then. I dunno, how you plan to do all the stuff, but I guess we can sort these things out.

It's a shame this is only open to PBEM games - we have an internet game going (check out firefight) which will last for many many sessions, and we have taken a slightly tongue in cheek approach to Role Playing....
