Question on Warriors Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Should you always keep the latest soldiers in your city??...this may sound dumb as I dont quite now how to word this , Here is my problem......I always set out to take as much land as I can....and Im usaully much bigger then the other civs....yet they still mess with me....I usally just have the warriors and swordsmen ( the early ones) in my city...Whenever a new miltary discovery is made should I add one to each city will that make me stronger then they are??

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

barracks let you upgrade units (for gold).

warriors upgrade into swordsmen, which is a dead end path right now.

It is actually okay to leave your inner cities (gasp!) undefended if the other civs don't have access to them. Of course, prudence dictates that they be occupied if you have a RoP agreement with anyone, lest they be tempted.

Of course, this only applies under Rep./Dem. governments, when there is no military police function.

Obsolete units (e.g., warriors/swords in the modern age) have function as military police and as resistance suppressors. Obsolete ELITE units may be functional if you can arrange for them to attack an old unit and be lucky enough to get a Great Leader (upgrading Elite units downgrade them to Veteran).

In general, if you have the gold surplus or the military need, upgrade them for use on the front or frontier/border. If you are going to potentially have need for military police or resistance suppressors, do not disband them for the 1/4 shields.

The AI does not really properly consider your troops strength. 129f was to make it do that, but not fully IMO. So the types of troops did not matter as much as the sheer numbers.
Just in case you did not follow what was said about military police, if you are under despot, troops act as pacifiers. Having an undefended city out of the AI range is fine if in a later form of government. Last night in my EMP game, my capitol was ungarrisoned and only 2 pop and one went unhappy, until I could get the troop back in town. So game level and gov will impact that. Go to the military advisor to see if you have enough troops vs any given AI. If he says we are weak, you need more troops now or risk shake downs.

Obsolete units are also good for capturing workers and pillaging.

They have several uses, since you can't upgrade some UU's they can be used as pacifiers and een get in a few licks now and then. I was just shocked to have a German Calv attack my forted Legion in a size 12 city and the legion won.
