I want to be able to pick the civilizations when I start the game. In single player the game picks the civs for you. I want to be able to pick.
I'm new, so maybe this is an old question.

I don't seem to have that option. When I launch the editor I still can't pick the enemies. I can only pick for myself.

You probably got me wrong. You have to start new game. Choose settings - map size, your civ, number of opponents, etc. Launch your new game. Now you have your settler on the screen, right? Now enter cheat mode (it launches Editor). Now you can make adjustments, for example, change opponent civs (note: you can't change names of rival leaders). When you are done, exit from cheat mode and save your game as normal. It isn't necessary, but anyway I advise you to exit and reload. After that, when you load your newly saved game, it'll represent you with enemies of your choice.

Well, it works now. Probably because I restored the mod. I went mod crazy, after downloading and installing mod4.2. I saw the other mods and started ending up changing some of the game data strings. Well after I restored them, and got back into the "Launch Editor, I was able to make my picks. BTW I am using Harlan's mod also and I made a custom pick of myself using a scanned photo and another much more lovely one with my wife. It worked great, I even put some extra graphics in with the photo.
