In 12 turns, we will have Theology regardless of any treaty signed. By this point, a treaty should be signed and we will also have Engineering. What, then, to research?

Invention: Gives Leo's Workshop & Longbowman
Printing Press: Leads to Democracy
Education: Gives University & Great Library

A no brainer. Printing Press.

We don't have enough Libaries to actually research Education or Invention first.

There's a chance that we could be the first with Printing Press, since the only thing interesting about it is that it's a prereq to Democracy.

Then Tech whore the Printing Press to aquire the more useful techs.

Yeah, he's probably right, Printing Press would be better because of the situation in which we find ourselves...

I tend to agree with joncnunn. After all, with this plan, (getting and selling printing press) we have a definite use for our research program. The other techs we will probably end up buying in our situation.

To clarify, this is to what we should research, not what we should aim to get next. I realize that was a little vague, and I will be creating a seperate thread regarding Buying Techs and such.

A no to printing press. Prices for techs jump tremendously when you haven't even begun to research the techs you want to buy.
Conclusion: we should research the techs we want to buy. I recommend invention and then gunpowder, for a more peaceful future and less need to worry about our trecherous neighbours.

Printing press possibly. We will probably end up buying Invention no matter what.

Education is my second choice if we really want to start building up our infastructure after this war.

If we are the first to reserach a tech, the amount of money it generates is more than enough to offset the full price of a tech we haven't started.

Chances are high that at least one AI has already started researching Invention.

Chances are very high that at least one AI will have Education within the next few turns. (If one doesn't have it already.)

It's unlikely that any of them have started reseraching Printing Press at this point. It's also probable that leaders to Education will either go for Banking or Astronmeny instead of Printing Press. Even Music Theory will be seen as more desiriable due to Bachs.

It's also noteworthy that Printing Press costs less to discover than Theology while the other two cost more.
