I thought it would be nice to have a comparing look at all the best terrain graphic modpacks for Civ3 and PtW. The "terrain graphics roundup" is in German language, but seeing comparison screenshots of the superb graphics side by side may be also enjoyable and interesting for English readers:

As soon as PTW is released with the new official terrain set addons (PTW "winter terrain" etc.) the graphics roundup will be extended accordingly.
A remark to the last picture you find in the roundup:
This is a personal selection that is based primarily on several versions of Daniel "Snoopy" Knowles' fantastic Modpacks. I am not allowed to offer a download for it, because we at civ3.de are still bound by an interdiction from Infogrames Germany. In case of desire you may be able to create a similar personal selection by yourself by getting access to older Snoopy modpacks at Apolyton or CivFanatics and combining them with the newer versions.
