Academia, the Ju-88 thing makes sense because the carrier defends instead of the battleship. Even though the battleship would defend better because it has a value of 25, the same hitpoints as the carrier, and 7 times the firepower of the carrier, the AEGIS flag on the carrier for some reason makes it defend first. Since it only has a firepower of 1, a Ju-88 will make quick work of it.
For the destroyer thing I know that a 46 hit points veteran would be a very tough nut, and not even a veteran destroyer could beat it, that's a fact. But I don't know what's going on over there so maybe he kamied a few units into it first and the destroyer thing was just propaganda, who knows.

Here is an example instead. Use these altered files on a backup copy of the scenario. The .sav changes the russian steppes to desert (renamed wasteland), all other desert is covered with polution (rather tedius to do, but I type fast). Wherever a river goes though desert, the terrain is changed to plains, for the river to show. I modified the oilfield background too.
When using W(inter)Terain1 as Terrain1, the russian steppe shows snow covered. Applying WRules as Rules increases movement cost, decreases food and cuts the defence of units caught in the freezing cold by half. When applying S(ummer)Terrain1 and SRules, desert shows/acts as normal plains.
The temperature indication rises but there is not global warming.
However, after doing all that I realised that this would hamper movement in real desert too, which is good -during the winter! This is the exact opposite of what should be happpening.
So, I thought of a way to get around this. Select a terrain that is not as critical to the strategy, like ricefields. Make ricefields grasssland or jungle. Turn it to northern plains terrain (good during summer, bad movement/production/defence during winter) and do the opposite to deserts (bad during summer, good during winter). Use pollution for glaciers instead.
I have to go back to work, I'll see if it works later.

Advances Made On All Fronts
Chinese forces have liberated Dhaka and Alma Ata. It is expected that next month Tashkent, Ulan Bator and Cita will be liberated.
Republican Air Force Scores Multiple Victories
Russian forces have come to dread the sound of planes, for they have none and China has many. Several Russian and British divisions were completely annihilated this month by the RCA.

Yes, that should be possible, i know it.

Well, what he described in his post... thatīs impossible!!! sorry, but a destroyer canīt sink a veteran battleship.
Yes, maybe he sent a few units first... but he should have told that in his post
Sorry, but i need a more "believeable" answer here.

Sorry guys, but it seems that Pavlov actually did something wrong.
Everybody noticed my posts refering to the last german attack.
First, it draw my attention that a single Ju-88 destroyed a battleship.
As i said before: I had to use 2 B-25 bombers to sank a japanese battleship. Yes, i know that the B-25 have 32 attack and the Ju-88 has 40...
Anyway, i had to use 2 of them; and the second was heavily damaged.
So, after Pavlovīs new explanation:
quote: I crashed a He-111 and two Stukas (all vets) into that battleship first. The destroyer gave the coup de grace. |
Well, thatīs better. Nice explanation.
However, i find it "double weird" in some way
On the one hand, one Ju-88 was enough to destroy a Battleship (hit points=0 NO DAMAGE).
But on the other hand he had to used 3 vet bombers + 1 destroyer to sink a vet damaged Battleship (hit points=46) mmm....
I INVITE YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN TESTS!!!! Play it as singleplayer, use the cheat mode and test it. I made some tests, and it requires only 1, maybe 2.
All in all, Darius talked with Case and then send me a PM and a proof.
Please, take a look

I think you should stop whining, I don't believe Pavlov would cheat and I don't understand or care about casualty reports.
