How do I post a screenshot? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I know how to take one, but I don't see how to insert it into a post. Am I missing something really obvious here?

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Below the reply box there is an area marked

Attach file:
Maximum size: 500000 bytes

Just hit the Browse button to find the place on your hard drive where you put the image. It should be a JPG. BMPs will show up as an attachment to download on top of being a huge file.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

make it max. 600 width or it won't attach

So that usually means resizing/cropping .

Convert that to a JPG and the edit the post. You can change the attachment when you edit.

You can convert it with Irfanviewer, an excellent file viewer and conversion utility that has the added advantage of being free.

Boy that was one exciting test image.

Blank white. It would be a pretty darn small file as a JPG or even a PNG.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Use a program like IrfanView or just about any photo editing program. SAVE AS and choose JPG. Set the quality to somewhere between 80 and 95 maybe lower with some images.

Irfan View will do some simple image manipulation like resize or crop. Sometimes the sharpness filter will help after a resize.

I like that tool as it was the first one I found to allow me to convert bmp maps from Might and Magic on XP.

In this case, I didn't want to show anything in particular, just make sure I could post a shot correctly. What I posted was a screenshot of the open program I used to take that screenshot.
