Pet Peeves Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

Losing worker to the enemy.
Everytime I capture a worker inside of an enemie's border, it
takes me two turns to get him safely inside my territory.
Yet when the enemy captures my worker/workers they are gone
from site. This really bugs me and it happens all the time.
does this happen to anyone else.

Also when two identical units meet on equal ground
(ex. cal vs cal) shouldn't the attacker win. Not so everytime in
my games. I sometimes run into a super AI unit that takes alot
to dispose.

I have been playing Monarch lately and have had success
with tiny and small maps. When I play standard map I have to
shut off the civ Advance ability at start to have a chance. the
computer civs take off way ahead of me if I don't. I can't figure
this out. Maybe I'm not at good as I think I am.
These are my thoughts. Thanks for listening.

That problem you mentioned with workers I see this all the time in every game I play,it is rather annoying.

I believe the captured workers are disbanded quite often by the enemy AI rather than used as slaves.
I've had workers captured deep into my territory that simply disappeared.

Also, what you mentioned about equal units meeting each other in combat is not necessarily true if they have a high defense rating. In that case, it would be better to be the defender than the attacker.

yeah where do the little buggers get to in such a hurry? I often send cavalry deep into enemy territory to find them but they're just plain gone. sneaky blighters, must have gone to have a fag or a cup of tea.

re. the equivalent units, as mentioned above sometimes it is better to be the defender, e.g. infantry better to be entrenched and awaiting the enemy than having to push your way through it.

what i'd like to see is enemy horseman being so damn effective against my units sheltering in forests/jungles. don't the makers know that close formation units like legions, cavalry, etc.. generally do rather badly in the uneven terrain?

Someone should shoot firaxis for such a simple oversight! Imagine making it so that damn phalanx kills another tank as has happened so often in real life whilst overlooking the obvious!

Put an end to popups!

If the AI has no chance to return the captured worker, it chooses to disband it. In fact, I do the same thing w/ captured workers where I cannot successfully get them to my territory. I do not want the AI to recapture them and put them to work.

In regards to battle-odds, the underdog does win sometimes. But, I do share in your frustration!

You can think it another way: if you capture an enemy worker and the IA recapture it, then is very probable it will not be disbanded and you have a good chance of capture it again.
So, the enemy workers captured from one civ, are less risky to work near the war zone where they were captured.

Edit: typos correction.

The AI on higher levels will all ways 'kill' (disband) captured workers, especially if they are in large groups

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I can not recall the AI keeping any workers since 129f unless they are very close to their own cities.
