How to remove units? Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I love this game, great improvement over Civ2, and all that, but I am not a fan of the 'cold war' units, in particular the lawyer and corporate branch.

I am quite happy to get my hands dirty and experiment, but could any of you guys give me guidance on what I would need to do to remove these units from the game without unbalancing the whole thing?

Suffering from ads?

Mike,

You have to add the flag CANT_BUILD to all units you want to remove from the game in Units.txt (in the directory *your_civ_dir*\ctp_data\default\gamedata). Find the entries to the units you want (e.g. UNIT_LAWYER or UNIT_CORPORATE_BRANCH) and go to the bottom of this entry, right above the '}', and add the flag.
This should solve the problem, although I don't know how the AI will react when the unit's aren't there anymore, but I think it will be fine.

BTW backup the units.txt file, just in case.

Let me know if you have any problems,

Locutus

I found an easy way was to simply make the "enabling advance" the "obsolete advance" in case anyone still cares

Put an end to popups!

Yeah, good ideas, you could simply modify the enabling advance and put something like the last advance, or just put no_index and index 6 for those unwanted units and x_city_cant_build lines (x stand for space, land...)
Just take half an hour and walk though them, if u know something of text editing you will find lots of interesting things
