What may be an obvious question. Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Has anyone else had a unit die after being stationed for a prolonged time in a jungle?

Got spare money?

Yes, although I don't know if it has to be a prolonged time. Maybe the chances do increase with time, but I'm not about to test it out.

Suffering from ads?

I've seen it a couple of times. Don't quote me on this, I haven't done the math, but I think it works more or less as follows: The less advanced a unit is, the more likely it is to perish, up until the advent of modern, mechanized units. This is strictly supposition on my part, based on common sense, which as we all know, may have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with it!!! Rumble on!

Yes, I've lost a warrior here and there to that.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

To fortify a unit in the jungle is to risk disease. AFAIK it loses 1 hit point at a time. Once you achieve Medicine or Sanitation (probably the latter), jungle is no longer a problem. Of course, by then you have probably cleaned most of it up.

I've had my warriors die/have hitpoints decreased while fortified in jungles. Actually, a very cool feature when you think about it.

Yeah, I wish that it would come into play more. I would love to use jungle as a border if it injured or killed intruders more often. Hmm. workers would have to be resistant as they could never clear or road then. Are they resistant now? I think so.

I would also like it if tundra acted the same way, ala Russian Winter effect.

Yes, that would be great.

I've never seen a worker die, so I think they must be resistant. But I don't fortify my workers in jungles much anyhow- they're usually chopping away clearing the jungle.

That would be refreshing (no pun intended)- the environment affecting the units more.

Workers don't have hit points, so they cannot lose any.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Haven't even heard of it. But it sounds like a logic feature. If they bothered to put it in, they should make the risk higher. Now it wount affect your tactics at all.

Tired of ads?

I've lost hit points to a jungle, but never an entire unit.

I would love to see the idea of interactive environment! Russian winter, burning desert (see the French foreign legion melt away!), poisonous swamp where conquistadors could get lost looking for the lost city of gold!

Maybe this is possible in a scenario with the new PtW editor?

Never seen it myself but I think it was mentioned in the manual. It's an excellent idea though, but the enviromental factor should perhaps be a bit more aggressive, AND include deserts and tundra.
