Disband unit penalty question. Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Has anyone looked into the way you get penalty points for disbanding units, paradropping, raillaunches etc.

I have often wonderd what happens to the pilotes when paratroopers jump out of the plane. Do they jump with the troops, do they get so ecsited by all those parachutes that they forget how to fly, or does the decompression of high altitude jumps kill them, and if so how does the paratroopers survive

More seriousely, would it be possible to eleminate the penalties for paradropping, disbanding etc.?

MD:

Hey...

To change paratroopers' success percentange, check out Const.txt--default\gamedata. Halfway down--or line 181--you'll see

PARADROP_SUCCESS_PERCENT 100 # a miss results in a drop to a neighboring square

this.
But the only thing I find about disbanding was this:

MAX_DISBAND_SIZE 3

So, I'm not sure. There was nothing in DiffDB.txt either....

Tom.

MD,

Just ignore Nordicus, he's just an idiot

I think I remember someone mentioning it had something to do with POWER_POINTS in Units.txt but I'm not sure about it. I would like some more info on that myself because it affects both Garrison units (see WesW's Med Mod 3.0) and flat map support, but I'm afraid my priorities are with other issues right now (getting things working is more important than reducing disbanding penalties for it).

Nordicus,

MD was referring to the points you get to determine your ranking and your place in the power graph and hall of fame (or whatever they called it). (Like it was in Civ1: "You're percentage is 1%, that's better than Dan Quayle" - or something like that anyway. It's still included in the game, but you (and I) don't know about it since we only play the game to test out mods and not for fun anymore ) The game gives you penalty points whenever a unit dies, even if you deliberately disband it as you e.g. do with transport planes that fly paratroopers around.

Why would they penalize you for disbanding units? Another logic flaw from Activision, apparently.

Any ideas where and what to look for?

I have thought of a workaround where I added a point to the total score when ever a unit was disbanded, but could not find a way of determining that the unit was disbanded, and not killed.

I dunno, Wes. Didn't make sense when I thought about it...I just took a look yesterday at the scoring thing--can't honestly recall the last time I finished a game of CtP...how sad is that? --and I didn't get it. When you disband a unit, you're already being penalized: you don't have that unit, which--most likely--had taken time and energy from your civ to create, any longer...so, you lose a unit out of the deal AND get dinged in the end for doing it!
Ridiculous--might as well let the little bugger get fragged all alone along on the front line...if you're involved in a conflict, if you're not under pressure of unit support costs, and if you have the time to wait for the little guy to hall his ass over to the battlefield.
Pretty silly....

MD:

I haven't a clue. I'm tempted to say it can't be done, simply because I've never seen anything, anywhere, that would affect that...but I'm not sure. Sorry.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Hey Thomas.

The MAX_DISBAND_SIZE 3 refers to disband cities - I'm (nearly) sure of that.

No - we should play - You should work!

I'm using Wes' mods now including your trade goods. Really fine......Though the Apple is rather "dominating" on the map. You'll never overlook that good.

Yes, the Max_Disband_Size refers to cities but the code has been removed to make it work correctly.
