There has been a few suggestions in another thread on the name for our nation so I'd thought I'd start a proper topic for it.

Lemuria (or some variation of it) to me sounds like the best suggestion so far.

Once there are a load of suggestions this can be decided via a poll.

A little info for the non-CtP2ers on the lemur reference: the Lemur (a monky-like animal, in case you didn't know) holds a special place in the CtP2 community. It's apparently one of the Activisioner's favourite animals and this has been an inside joke among Activisioners for quite a while, and made it's way to the outside world (read: Apolyton) as well. There's a cheat code called 'Leemur Poo', there's a 1/1,000,000 (or something like that) chance that the word Lemur will appear in the GL the first time you open it, there are some lemur-references in various CtP2 text files and on the CtP2 CD. We named the MP Tournament we're currently holding in the CtP2-General Forum after this animal as well...

Note also that 'Lemuria' is also a mythical land ala Atlantis and a place which is the scene of some sci-fi and fantasy books (among other things) - see also http://www.lemuria.net/ (one of dozens of relevant links).

but otherwise any 'lemur' theme is nice and apt. Yes i can almost see it; a race of small monkey folk - struggleing to achieve greatness, sort of Planet of the Apes but cute!

And I thought the chance was something higher, however it is not a Civ3 cheat.

Apolytonia or something like that is already being used in Civ3, and I'd rather have something unique. Lemuria seems to be a good choice, but we can also choose to have the Lemur be our national Animal of Worship. The One Animal to which we dedicate all our writings, buildings etc.

I can't come up with another name...

Do we make a poll on this one, or shall we just call our empire Lemuria. A poll would be democratic, but I think we should not fail the great Lemur and give him proper worship! It can not be any other name than Lemuria! (guess who's gonna vote for theocracy )
